Is there any point watching any more ? One good ep with a great cliffhanger this season isn’t really enough to bring me back I don’t think ? Ncuti still isn’t the Doctor yet for me ,it never took a whole season before I thought ,yep he’s the Doctor now? Maybe it’ll happen next year ? Thanks for bringing us the pod every week guys really enjoyed it more than the episodes . 👏👏👏👏

I feel like RTD might not have enough people around to tell him that some of these ideas don’t make sense or need reworking. I think there needs to be more than one person in charge like Letts and Dicks so ideas can be reframed and ditched/improved more efficiently.

Towards the end of The Legend of Ruby Sunday I was praying that it was not going to be Sutekh when the anagram started forming. The reason being that you cannot bring back Sutekh in a way that really justifies his return. Sutekh has to be captive and incapacitated as he was in Pyramids, but that gets tedious, so if he escapes he has to destroy the universe, that is his thing, and if he does that, you either end the show, or do reset. Once I saw the UNIT guys all get dusted, the tension of the episode was over for me, because at that point, I knew there had to be a reset. Also the image of Sutekh looked to me like a dog humping the TARDIS.

I mean the issues could have been fixed with more drafts. I.e. instead of death getting rid of death, have the doctor threaten Sutekh to reverse what he done otherwise he'd be stuck being dragged through the vortex, framing it in a timelord victorious fashion. Really emphasising the mythological aspects of it would have made it better to digest. I.e. like "he wrapped my father in chains of a dwarf star" in family of blood. He literally binds the god of death and threatens him to reverse what he has done with eternity of suffering. Maybe highlighting there is still the McCoy/Tennant part of him in there. And considering what Sutekh did, it would be acceptable why the Doctor would go this far. Maybe have the rope be a weapon of the Osirons that they used to bind him originally along with the eye of Horus. Also, linking the time window to a "recovered sarcophagus" in Unit. Again changes which I think would have helped the plot and execution of it better.

The episode was a bit of a mess, the ending was terrible, but I'm actually really glad I went to see it in the cinema, the experience of that was so much fun it elevated a pretty flawed episode. At the end there was a girl across the car park shouting on her phone "it could have been anyone! A-Clara, B- river song, C- the doctor, D-Ruby herself, but NOOOOOOO, LOUISE!" and that was my favourite part of the night.

I was willing to get over Ruby's mum being normal had it not had plot holes regarding the snow/cloak. Imagine how beautiful it would be if as 15 said bye to Ruby, he said. You've got your family, i'm going to find mine. And the cliffhanger is the dr searching for/finding Susan. Ruby finds her mum, the dr finds Susan. Then we could have Susan as a companion again, instead of constantly running from the past. The dr seems like this great person, but he's really cold with how he dispenses with companions and moves on. It's kind of dark.

It's a real shame that they imply Sutekh latches onto the tardis after Pyramids. It would make so much more sense for that scene in Wild Blue Yonder. First appearance of Susan Triad with Newton in 1666 and the last thing the 4th Doctor says in Pyramids of Mars is a quip about the fire of London in 1666.... Sutekh could've heard and then sought him out in the vortex.. idk

I believe that it's up to interpretation when he latched on. It's straightforward to think he did as soon as 4, and Sarah left. But it also makes sense for him to latch on as the 1st Doctor and Susan leave Gallifrey, and that explains where the Toymaker saw him, not in the universe but as the Doctor brought him to his domain. Either way, poor Sutekh going through all these beatings and wonder what kids think of the supposed hero dragging a dog by the collar through the vortex 😂. Can also imagine in Journey's End when the Daleks are about to detonate the reality bomb, Sutekh thinking "you better bloody stop this."

I think I enjoyed this so much because I accepted from the get-go that it was going to be RTD up to his old tricks and so I didn't really expect anything cohesive. This finale really reminds me of Series 3. Just really magical wishy washy nonsense but presented with such confidence that it kind of works if you squint. But only kind of. It was a big, flashy, splashy, tear-jerking pile of wank, which is basically all that RTD ever really delivers on.

I felt more deflated by this run of episodes than by much of Jodie’s era, which says a lot! I genuinely don’t know who this era of Who is for? Is it for the Disney Plus generation? If so, there’s the Hollywood love interest episodes like Rogue. Is it for classic sci-fi fans? Then you have the ghostly 73 Yards. Casual viewers would have understandably dipped after Space Babies. As Billy has said, I’m socially-politically 100% on board with RTD (see Dot and Bubble), but aside from that I struggle to see the direction of the show. It needs new energy and fast. @drwhotvwam5 ай бұрын
I believe that when sutekh latched on to the tardis, it was because the doctor was using a machine thst may have been a component of the TARDIS to cast him into the Time vortex, this allowed sutekh to become connected to the TARDIS (first mentally then physically) I think the reason he took so long to act his revenge is because he was weakened and it took him all those years to grow in strength, every time the TARDIS landed he created another Susan triad. With each Susan he created he got a tiny bit stronger. If the TARDIS landed in a time where a Susan already existed then that Susan got doubled in power . Once enough Susans were created he was able to manifest and become corporeal. Well thats my head cannon anyway 😂 I think mrs flood is the god of fiction or the thing from the "mind robber" and she had been manipulating the doctors recent adventures, so perhaps more questions will be answered

On the subject of the Pyramids re-edit, I definitely enjoyed it. Might've enjoyed it more if the original version wasn't still fresh in my mind as I'd re-watched it several days earlier. I would assume the audio at the start was probably redubbed because Scarman refers to the Egyptian helpers as "savages" Also I thought the infamous Ian Levine's response to it was very ironic: "Whatever possibly possessed Russell T. Davies to allow the talentless Benjamin Cook to YET AGAIN hack a classic to pieces with a butcher's cleaver. This disrespect for our beloved vintage episodes has got to stop" as if he wasn't also making a mess of classic episodes with his crap AI reconstructions 😆 (And at least RTD and Ben Cook aren't making people go through a paywall to watch this stuff!) And, with the thought of a modern Who episode of TFTT it'd be *so* good to get Eccleston on (Shame he'd probably never do it because of his distaste for the people in charge) Might be nice to get Paul McGann in for one and maybe have an animated release of one of the Big Finish adventures. Heck, or get Richard E. Grant in to do one for Scream of the Shalka now that it's canon!

And I disagree with the Molecular bond rope thing. All God's have weaknesses, and can have things forged by science or otherwise that can destroy them, or imprison them. This is true in our own mythologies, with examples such as Prometheus chained to a rock, or the otherwise invulnerable Baldur being killed by mistletoe. Being a God rarely means all powerful - it just means extremely powerful. Superman has his Kryptonite and so on. In Doctor Who alone there are many examples - The Beast in the Satan Pit was trapped, The Toymaker was tricked, The Maestro defeated, The Eternals outsmarted, and so on, and so on, and so on. Plus as over the top as it was, I really liked the big space dog on a leash visual.

Martha’s family remembered being tortured and the year of the master’s rule, Donna couldn’t remember, Sylvia and Wilf had to be on egg shells just to get her to be normal again. Ruby? Nothing. Everything handed to her. It’s been like this ever since rhe 60th, he’s trying to replicate Moffat’s “happily ever after” cliche . Donna can remember no strings attached, Tennant is still the Doctor in an extent, Susan Triad gets to live even though Marcus died the minute he was freed in Pryamjds, …least Chibnall didn’t reverse the Flux and had people stay dead.

Overall i enjoyed this story and I'm probably in the minority when it comes too it, starting off with the performances, everyone was pretty brilliant in this story honestly, Ncuti was amazing the same goes for millie, Gabrielle wolf was superb and will always be sutekh. Was it perfect? no but that didn't stop me from enjoying it, I actually liked the Ruby's mum thing, Russell said in the unleashed that Ruby's story has been paused for now, in terms of how they dealt with sutekh i didn't mind it honestly, my interpretation is that he couldn't survive going through the time vortex twice and that the doctor may have gone deeper into the vortex so that sutekh was destroyed. In terms of season 1 itself i think its pretty bang average in terms of modern series that we've had, however i will say that i did prefer it over flux for the most part as i feel it had a slightly more good to meh episode average. My favourite episode is definitely legend of ruby sunday despite the finale, finally and quickly i think the people who have out right hated this season for no reason need to think about if doctor is for them anymore, Anyway I'm very much looking forward to the Christmas special and season 2 but again I'm probably in the minority, Thankyou chaps for these brilliant livestreams 😊.

I think that's giving the writers way too much credit, especially when we've known since the 2000's that RTD makes up his story arcs as he goes along. Something he gleefully admits in his "The Writer's Tale" book. Keep this in mind, The Master and Donna weren't originally going to come back in Series 4 and the Specials, (Series 4 was going to have a companion named Penny, who also fell in love with the Doctor, and the 10th Doctor was originally going to die in The Waters of Mars, but RTD changed his mind when both Catherine and John Simm were available and rewrote his scripts almost at the last minute, and don't get me started on how he handled the Torchwood spinoff.

I didn't like this episode but am surprised by how many people say this is the worst Doctor Who has been. I think the episode had good ideas, great visuals and acting but it was trying to tackle too much stuff, under-explained a lot of things, and over-explained others. I didn't leave the episode thinking "Well, Doctor Who is done", I left thinking "Yep, that was a thing...". Maybe it's because I don't have an attachment to Classic Who compared to other viewers. I've mostly stuck to The Third Doctor era and only recently watched The Pyramids of Mars. The biggest issues I had with the episode were the supporting characters getting killed at the start meaning it was all going to be undone, Sutekh getting put on a leash and Ruby's Mum reveal. Why a 15-year-old single mother decided to wear a cloak instead of some joggers in 2004, or whatever time it is and then randomly point to a sign to indicate that the baby is named Ruby was utterly stupid. It is mysterious for the sake of being mysterious. I once had a birthday party where a friend of mine stole my Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon card from Yu-Gi-Oh. Dunno which friend took it but when I remember that day the smell of BBQ fills the air and DJ Sammy's Heaven plays ominously around me. I dunno, I haven't cared about Doctor Who for the last 10 years maybe? This is the first time I've finished watching a full series since Matt Smith so I was out of the fandom years ago, maybe that's why I don't care if it fell flat on its face. The season had a lot of frustrating stuff but also stuff I enjoyed. It's always the execution that's the issue. Good ideas but then you think about them and leave with more questions than answers. Since the next season was filmed before this was released, I imagine the issues with the show will continue into next year which is annoying.
