Great way to spend a lunch break! I love this kind of fishing. Oh, those little fish don't get much larger, they are Orange Spotted Sunfish. Capitol Lake is the only place down here in south Louisiana that I know has them. Keep on fishin'!

@TheOutdurrsman Pumpkinseed aren't found in waters this far west...I think they are more over in the Carolinas. These Orangespotted do have pretty distinct pumpkin spots though.

hey man i live near here and was wondering if you could lmk the most limited full gear I would need to fish the capital lakes. Id like to catch any size fish, but I heard they have blue catfish!

i would go with a ultra light to medium pole and you cant go wrong with some inline spinners they catch everything and are cheap also worms under a cork will catch everything in there

its the overpass right before the blackwater conservation area on hooper road i went down river from there would be nice for the fly rod

i use 6 lb mono i measure a piece as long as the rod fully extended i use a improved clinch knot to tie the line to the rod
