According to Meat Loaf this was Jim Steinman’s dream to make this a musical and he didn’t live long enough to see it through. To me doesn’t matter if he doesn’t sound like Meat Loaf. It’s the artistry of a man who wrote Meat Loaf’s career pretty much.

Andrew Polec is phenomenal as Strat and he sings every single song perfectly well and it is spot on when he sings them and he can definitely sing rock songs like I can and even though he can sing this perfectly well especially at the age of 23 which is impressive to sing a Meat Loaf song at and I love him and his voice because he is one year older than me and does a grand job with every single Meat Loaf song and that is why he deserves to win the Best West End Debut award for playing the role of Strat and singing every song spectacularly well.

This has become my absolute favorite musical. Not sure how it happend that it overthroned "Les Miserables" just after seeing it once. Maybe because the songs bringing back flashes of memories and emotions long forgotten. Maybe it is because of the unique setup at stage. Most defenitly it is because of the awesome singing and because of the story build around those songs. Best Musical ever!!!! I'm so sorry to see it go in January but I hope it will return soon to West End! But until then I will enjoy it at least 3 times more. :D

But the staff were fantastic. I then went to see it in London in a very Gothic type theatre. It suited it well. Now going to see it in Birmingham in February. At 1:40 did they cut lyrics from the original song or is that a cut in the video? It sounds so jarring after how many times I've listened to the original.
@Clewerly7 жыл бұрын
It was in the song, they had to cut it short to fit into the Palladium TV show (it has lots of other acts/shows in it). They also use that cut in the final reprise version of the song at the end of the show. But the full version in the show is epic!

Mehhh, to clean and sterile. Does not have the grit of a Meatloaf performance back in the early days of his career. I have seen him and his show was stupendous. Not trying to take anything away from this but I think Steinman's music on the Bat Out of Hell album and more importantly the tour, which I am comparing this to, worked because it was a rock group performing operatic theater not theater performing rock. It had all of the wild self destruction and cocaine fueled intensity of a late 70's early 80's rock band. There were fights, Meatloaf would melt down and wreck rooms, he needed oxygen after performances. That all played an important role in making this the best rock album ever. Yeah this is just to clean and while the vocals are good, they are not good enough to carry the epic music of the Bat Out of Hell album/tour. Mind you I did not give it a thumbs down as its not bad, just doesn't have the right feel.

Strat (the blonde guy) is a part of a group called the lost who all have some kind of disorder which means they never age past 18 and they are deemed to be dangerous and monsters because they are forever lost and not knowing where to go. Raven is the daughter of the commander in chief of the community who is not ever allowed to leave the house because her father perceives the world to be too dangerous for her but she has fallen in love with strat through watching him everyday from her window! I won't tell you any more or else I'll give the whole story away haha
