The trees in the background with their leaves changed to brilliant fall colors are absolutely beautiful! I love how you and Matt work on home projects together to get them accomplished. Y’all are a perfect example of how couples in a marriage are suppose to work together as a team. I hope young people see y’all and choose their life partner wisely. It will be interesting to see if y’all actually do go out in the snow to take a popsicles break. 🥶🥶

@@CelebratingAppalachia I agree with Robin, Tipper, the trees behind y'all are some kinda pretty in their splendid fall colored garments; their cloak of many colors, so to speak. I found myself getting distracted by their gorgeous colors and I have to agree with you and Matt that they're going to peak early color-wise this year. My [now late] mama used to eat squirrels when she was growing up during the Great Depression [she was born in 1930]. She said that they were good eatin'. I've never eaten a squirrel, but my son Andrew killed his first one down in the low-country near Beaufort, SC, a while back and he said it didn't taste that great. I guess it's because it was a swamp living squirrel and it ate stuff that made it taste not so great. Hopefully when he moves to the mountains of Appalachia he'll get some that taste better. I have to say that you and Matt have both found a True, Fine Love [as the Steve Miller song title goes] in each other. Take care and enjoy the cooler weather. Hugs and good wishes to everyone from New Bern, NC. That slice of tree trunk looked heart-shaped. . .maybe that's why you originally wanted to keep it. Your house looks nice with the fresh coat of stain on it.

I’m about the age of you and Matt and I can easily remember that we had more snow in the 70’s. I’m from Alberta (prairie province in western Canada) and while it definitely snows here every year, I have a vivid memory of there being so much snow that we were standing on the very top bar of the swing set in my friends yard! Plus we dug snow tunnels and my brothers attempted to make an igloo! I lived in town so we rarely missed school but when the country kids couldn’t be bussed in we would have a pretty fun and easy day at school. It’s funny how I don’t like being out in the snow much anymore but sure miss those carefree snowy days! Love your channel and learning about your lifestyle where you live!

Matt - Oh joy ; ) on hanging up Tippers' Treasure back on the side of the house. Maybe you could create a long horizontal board or pipe that attaches permanently to the side of the house. Then Tipper would be able to hand up things with out making more holes - you could either use wires or such to hang things on the pipe anywhere along the length. Sort of like the Amish have around their rooms - a permanent ability to hang things anywhere along it. It is just a thought.

Hello Tipper! I really enjoy watching you and Matt. Thank you for sharing your life with us. This just popped up in my feed-so I’m watching for a second time🙂. If you haven’t done anything with your acorn string and the pine cones, you might could try something like this. You can pick up a large faux evergreen wreath- I might go with a 24” depending on how long your string is. I would dip or spray the strand in some clear polyurethane or some kind of protectant, do the same w/ the pine cones (the finish depends on your taste, but I would use a satin or matte. With picks or wire, attach the acorns to the front of the wreath. I would start on the inside working out. Then wire your pine cones together. You can loop some ribbon or pretty fabric under them to set them off; attach and your done. You might could even work the spent shells in there somehow. Your porch looks so pretty!

The porch looks so nice, sounds are so peaceful. The comment about this episode of Hoarders made me laugh too, sounds like something my husband and children would say to me : ) Funny too how he pitched the turtle shell way back. My thought was that could be put in a garden bed/planter somewhere for decoration too, maybe with a pretty little (flowering) plant peeking out of it. In trying to clean out - especially my mother and father's belongings that they kept - my "that's a keeper"/ "I need those" pile is usually bigger too than my trash or "leaves here" pile much to my family's chagrin or frustration : ) The trees in the background look really beautiful there.

I really enjoyed this video. I’m in Tennessee just over the mountain from you and it’s beautiful and quiet colorful here too. Thanks for the video.

Those bug things Matt's talking about is Bot fly larvae. Daddy always waited for frost for squirrels and a snow for rabbits because of it. Those chickens are molting late, aren't they? I laughed, it looked like your keep pile was way bigger than your get rid of pile. We had to move a few times in the last fee years. You don't like stuff as much when you have to pack/move it a few times, lol I enjoy "visiting" with y'all. Stay warm! Stay safe and GOD bless

I just love your porch! There's nothing like swinging on the porch in the mountains. One of my very good friends would swing all day everyday if she could. Anytime we are together and we are at a place that has a swing, we're in it talking. Great times!!!

"That concludes this episode of Hoarders" 😃 Nice fall leafs in the background. Popsicle break! I haven't tried the watermelon or suntan flavor, but the mango & other flavors are good. That porch looks great. Stinkbugs backpackers, that's cute. 😀

I think I could sit outside a while and help y’all enjoy that weather. I love a fire as well. We should be getting cold enough for a fire in another couple days.

I love seeing Matt working while you are talking. It just reminds me of a SCTV skit. I have a Ryobi battery chainsaw, and I love trimming low hanging branches with it. Hint: Get a 2nd battery! Stay safe, gang!

Last month we had a storm that came through it took a big tree down at my sisters house. Tree trimmers said it would take two months to get out to her house. I told her no problem I had just purchased a Ryobi battery chainsaw went to her house and we got all of the limbs cut and moved so she could see how much damage was done to her pull behind trailer. Sister liked the little chainsaw so much she went two days later and purchase one for herself. We’re both in our late 60s and not afraid of work. Yes a second battery is a must and a fast charging station.

I am just like you as I also like to collect things and I'll go through them from time to time but end up keeping a good deal of it.
