Excellent tutorial, using the two different pieces of equipment and showing us the different samples was awesome. Thanks

Thank you for using different scanners. Not everyone can afford a Snap-On scanner so showing a cheaper scanner to diagnose is a huge help as well. Thank you!

Let me tell you something. You are a car doctor. Really you are amazing. The best one who move step by step and analysing the root of the car problem with an evidence . Thank you doctor.

I wanted to let you know that I was prepared to spend over 300.00 for a new alternator for my 2006 Mustang V6. After watching you video, I decided to check the connector. I do not have a scanner but iI understood your diagnostics so i set my iPhone up in the driver's seat pointed at the cluster and did a face time to my iPad. Whenever I would move the connector, the battery light would go out. For about 30.00 I was able to replace the connector and now I have no light or charging problems and you saved me about 270.00. That is worth a like, subscribe, and bell for you, my friend.!

I've got a scanner that'll show the data with the engine running. I'll check out the 2008 chevy cobalt tomorrow to see if it's just the connector. Thanks for posting the video. Son claims that he didn't have any issues prior to jump-starting some guys car. I told him that's why I bought a couple of those small digital jump-starter units, just because some vehicles can get damaged after using them to start other vehicles...

Wish I had seen this video 2 months ago. I had the same issue for about 3 months changed alternator and new battery. Still service charging system messages. I ended up finding it by accident as Everytime I messed with the connection noticed I got the error Everytime. Changed and no issues. This was a great informational video.

I wonder if yoy put a compass by the wire then wiggle it? perhaps the field would swing the needle back and fourth while wiggling it?

nice video, I am having the same problem. I noticed that the alternator will kick in when I touch the connector. without having the scope I think is a good bet to replace the connector.

i had a. similar issue p1637 and p0622 Haness was ok i swap alternators because ei had a new one laying around and i had the old alternator and battery tested and both came back good and i was looking at my data stream for the f terminal and it had a constant pattern but it would suddenly drop to 0% then right back up to 5-89%ish any ideas I tried wiggling my terminal also but no noticable drop in the scanner
@rwbishop8 жыл бұрын
For all that matter, you can just wiggle the connector and listen for alternator belt load fluctuations...
@myboy0518 жыл бұрын
Yes you can , but seeing it on the scope lets you know for 100% sure that you know what the problem is . A good tech will confirm the problem before making the repair . No guess work with a scope .
@ozzstars_cars8 жыл бұрын
you did a lot of wiggling in this vid to find the evidence.
@trr52913 жыл бұрын
P0622 means that it has a alternator connection issue than? My battery light has been on for 2 weeks and I can't figure out the issue. The alternator was testing at 14.05. My alternator is at the bottom so it's hard to check the connector down there.

If the signal was coming from the ECM, why did the signal drop out? if the connection between the plug, and socket is bad, you would still have signal at the plug, where you are probing it.
@myboy0518 жыл бұрын
Because he has the scope on the signal return wire . Your are seeing what the alternator is sending to the ECM .
@myboy0518 жыл бұрын

@Turbotomass8 жыл бұрын
Okay, you clearly have a connection issue at the alternator. How are you determining that it's the connector and not the alternator. Could be contacts on or in alternator.
@gmytfan8 жыл бұрын
Agreed, when I get a situation like that, I will disconnect it and visually look for terminal damage/problems, test the terminal tension/fit, tug on the wire-possibly broken inside insulation. Also sometimes a component responds to pressure on the terminals going into it - then that part has failed. It all depends on what you find as Duane mentioned "Evidence" in a particular car, the connector pigtail is a practical way to repair a problem in that area and may be all that is needed.
