2:28 Remember to check HY2120 Series chip marking and look up the variable values for overvoltage, undervoltage in the datasheet. Better don't blindly trust the seller. Model HY2120-CB for example 2.90±0.08V overdischarge detection voltage. HY2120-AB maybe bad for low current discharge (small voltage drop across load) because overdischarge detected much lower @ voltage 2.30±0.08V! 6:39 is a very useful reminder. A micro switch push button can be permanently connected between B- and P- in order to reset/boot the protection board every time when installing the batteries, eg when used in conjunction with a battery holder.

Good video. That text-to-speech program sounds a bit weird though. I've recently got myself an HX-2S-D20 for monitoring a couple 14500s which will be driving an (Li-ion modded) LED lantern via a buck converter (grand overkill, I know, but it was cheap). Same Hycon HY2120-CB chip as this one but it does have balancing.

in 6:24. if the new batteries are installed. i need to manually short the -PB. may i know if this is the -POWER and -Battery (0 Volt)? i just short this two terminals to have an outpout power?
@gemsungelectronics460
@gemsungelectronics460 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! B- is the minus pin connected to the battery. PB- is the minus pin connected to the Power (Load). You need to short these two pins together to have the output power. Alternatively, you can also connect the charger to the PB+ and PB- pin, and this will enable the MOSFET immediately. Thank you!

If a BMS like this simply outputs no voltage and all the cells are 4v is there a way to reset it or has it failed open circuit?
@gemsungelectronics460
@gemsungelectronics460 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, that's a tricky situation. Try disconnecting the cells from the BMS and connect it again. If the output still shows no voltage, then there is a good chance that the BMS have been damaged. If you have a DVM, try checking some signals on the BMS. (Especially the signals for FET control) The schematic included in this video can serve as a reference. Hope you find out the problem. Can i charge four 18650 (for 7.2 volt & each 2000mah)bettary with this circuit??
@gemsungelectronics460
@gemsungelectronics460 2 жыл бұрын
This module is made to charge two batteries in series. You can charge 4 batteries by connecting 2 batteries in parallel and 2 batteries in serial. Also note that the charge voltage should be in the range of 8.4V to 9V. If you use 7.2 volts for charging, then the batteries will not be fully charged.

Can this be used on 2S LiPo battery? Some vendors writes that it can but isn't the over discharge voltage 2.3-3V too low for LiPo?
@gemsungelectronics460
@gemsungelectronics460 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! As you mentioned, LiPo batteries can be damaged if discharged below 3.0V, so you cannot use this module directly for LiPo batteries, since this module cuts off discharge at 2.9V (this module uses HY2120-CB). However, it may be possible to use for Lipo batteries if you change the controller IC to HY2120-GB, which has discharge protection at 3.1V. Thank you!

You can add a current sensor, such as INA219, or use the current measurement from the DVM. If the current is flowing to the intended direction, I think you have soldered correctly.

@gemsungelectronics460
@gemsungelectronics460 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. For this BMS module, you can charge two 18650 baterries, so you would need to supply 8.4V to this module (4.2V for each battery). The current depends on the capacity of your battery. It is safe to limit the maximum current to half the capacity of the battery. For example, if you are using two 2000mAh batteries, the maximum current supplied to this module should be limited to 2000mA (or 2A), which is 1A for each battery. Thank you.

@gemsungelectronics460
@gemsungelectronics460 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I don't currently have any particular recommendation for you, but you can easily find the one which suits your needs by searching "2s bms balance" on google. Any product (or module) should be ok, as long as you use it within specifications. (Especially current limits). Also, you need to be aware which type of batteries you wish to use. For example, Lithium based batteries such as Lithium polymer and LiFePo4 have different charge/discharge voltages which requires different BMS modules. Feel free to ask more questions if you have any. Also, check out my video of 4S BMS module with balance feature. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2PJY4CGf5ydh7c Thanks!

How large (wattage) is your solar panel? You need at least 8.4V to charge 2s 18650. Also note that the wattage for the solar panel is an ideal value which isn't easily be achieved in real world.
