BATTERY POWERED TRACTOR - EGO T6 42 inch Lawn Tractor Review

The EGO T6 42-inch Lawn Tractor is powered by 6 of their 56-volt lithium-ion batteries. EGO claims an equivalent of a 21hp lawn tractor. There are two brushless motors that each directly power a 21-inch blade, providing the 42" cut. A third brushless motor powers the rear differential delivering up to a 6mph top speed. You can adjust the speed of the blades and the speed of the drive wheels independently from the dashboard. This EGO T6 cordless 56v lawn tractor mower sells for $4,000 and includes the 6x 56V batteries and charger.

Ego needs to step up their game! Those decks won't last very long. Toro sells their E-Timecutter only with the Ironforged deck, much better quality.

Should come with the chv-1600 charger like the new 52" zero turn. It would cut charge time down to about 1.5 hours. Greenworks 60v version gets 6x 8.0ah with 3x dual chargers foe less money.

Does your reverse beep shut off in the app work? Mine doesn't and EGO support has had a ticket for 3 months now with no results so far. Just wondering if yours does the same.

Great video! Still not cheap but prices are coming down, good news. As a reference, it's about 1.5x the price of a John Deere S120 / 42in deck / 22hp, if we compare apples to apples. Another factor to consider is longevity. I still own my John Deere L100 I bought in 2003 and it's running great. I wonder how this EGO will stand in 20+ years, and how much those batteries cost to have some spares. I like the idea, but we are not there yet. Price still high, and no data of long term ownership (real long term - 5/10+ years).

The batteries aren't exactly cheap, but when you consider the lack of maintenance this needs and the time saved, you're paying a premium for convenience. Also tbh I'd put this more with a 300 series deere than a 100 series, but just my opinion

@@james2042 Absolutely right. A 300 series JD would still match the T6 EGO in term of pricing, and would last at least 2 or 3 decades, not sure about the T6 EGO.

@FullTimeGT if you think a modern deere is going to last more than 6 years you're crazy. Not to mention deere's right to repair fight going on. If I'm going to spend this kind of money on something new it's going to be electric simply so my only maintenance is the blades

@@james2042 I don't know about new JD, mine I bought in 2003 and still running top shape without any issues. I'm not saying Electric Tractor is not the way to go, I only mentionning that we don't have any data for longevity for now, and entry pricing is still a bit high.

As stated in my other post in this video it's no there yet price point as it cost 1.5x than it's gas equivalent and we don't have any long term data about these. But it's getter there and it looks promising. My point is would I buy one now, no. Let's wait five years and we'll see. Thanks!

@@J-Colt Right, and do you think that will make it 1.5 acres/ charge? Anyone short of a suburban hellscape will get 1 acre max out of that. Of your property is less than 1 acre, save the $4k, and just do it with a push mower.

Not a convincing mowing test by any means. That grass was so sparse with few grass blades per square foot and would not put any strain whatsoever on a mower. Anyway, I would never pre-order a $4000 unproven device of any kind. I buy Toro 42" gas mowers for $2500 mowing many acres of tight areas with thick grass and hills. Over 10 years with 2 mowers and both still running fine, Doesn't look to me like this thing could cut it. Pun intended.

Personally i say this is where ryobi messed up. Their 80v platform should of never existed and they should of just made their mowers run on 40v batteries in pairs. They already have multiple 80v tools on the 40v platform, like the snowblower and rear tiller. People would be much more open to the tractor and small zt having 6 battery slots and the big zt having 10 slots. The charger would still be 40v, the batteries would be interchangable with their other tools it would just make more sense. I understand the risk of people trying to run it on 2 2ah batteries, but just make it require a minimum of 12ah total to run.
