Thanks for the video. I was wondering. What steps to charge battery over the winter period. Trickel charge?

Yes, that's what most people do, especially if you just have a traditional lead-acid or AGM battery. In my case, since I have a Lithium battery, if I know I won't be driving my car for a month or more, I just disconnect it instead. The battery I have holds a charge pretty good when it's not connected to anything plus I have trust issues, especially with lithium lol

Tried this charger out yesterday after my new XV4800 arrived. Battery started out at 12.4 and hit 13.6 in approx. three hours. Thanks for the product endorsements Chris, you have not steered me wrong yet!

Not a car guy, and don't know much about electricity. It looks like you attached the black cable to a bolt or something instead of the negative on the battery. Which is it, and does it matter? Thanks

With these Challengers the battery is located in the trunk, so Dodge added jumping points in the engine bay. That 'bolt' is the negative jumping post specifically made for that purpose. If you look closely at the plastic fuse box cover in front of it, you can see an image of a jumper embossed into it pointing to each post.

How long do you think it would take to charge a small motorcycle battery
@Scavenger1320Ай бұрын
I honestly have no idea. I have zero experience with motorcycles outside of what I've seen on old episodes of Orange County Choppers lol.

You can leave it on the vehicle indefinitely. It's not just a charger it's a maintainer as well. Do some more reading on the unit itself.

I did, and I've mentioned that, and I know people do that with no problems, but I have trust issues, especially with lithium batteries, and I have much better peace of mind using it the way I do versus leaving it plugged in all the time and constantly worrying about it. You can leave newer laptops plugged in all the time too, but I unplug all my electronics the same way. Funny how it seems the batteries in my electronics always lasts longer or has fewer issues than people that like to leave their stuff plugged in all the time.

Quick question, I purchased this and put this on my car, which has been sitting for a while, and also has a dead battery, and my selection is flashing amber. Do you know if I need to get this jumped prior to using, or will the flashing amber light eventually go off and have a solid yellow after some days being connected?
@Scavenger1320 Жыл бұрын
I just checked out mine and looked it up and it should still work on a dead battery. My battery wasn't quite dead but it was critically low. When I plugged in the charger the amber charging light stayed solid, but the green selection light above the Lithium setting started flashing. According to the manual that means it's in a recovery charging mode. After about an hour or so on mine the green selection light turned solid and the amber charging light stayed solid too, meaning it was back into normal charging. IMO it's probably better for the battery to slowly charge it back up versus shocking it with a jump.

The maintainer had smart enough technology you don’t need to disconnect that’s why it’s called a maintainer
