Battery Test - DJI Multifunction charging handle

I also got the handle , actually specially for the remote , is very nice that you can activate the screen in the front or the back with the shortcut button as well , and you can also record without a battery with that handle (in certain mods)

the 4 hours run time if you read in the dji documentation is for 1080p 24fps , with Rocksteady , I also did some tests and I had dewarp active and could not get the 4 hours , after I selected their settings I got actually 4 hours and 20 minutes

I agree. But the problem is their marketing. 4k camera 4hrs runtime.. we have to go to read the full specs to know the truth

i used action 3 battery in action 5 and i was able to record 35 minutes the battery still has 82% remaining filmed at 30fps at 4K

Hii photorabz thank u for your great comparison videos, as you now have the second action 5 pro I've got a request to do a comparison test between both acrion 5 cameras one without lens cap, from my point of view the glare or flare on dji action cams are bad mostly in lowlight shootings So i want to know if it can be solved by removing the cap lens in some situations. Thanks again.

Why is it shocking that you only see 12% change from the battery its only a little bigger because they changed chemistry. Most of the gained time from the oa4 is because of the 4nm chip and different chips/displays. For the rest 'runtime' on any devices always depends on some setting in this case probably some 1080p setting.

@@photorabz well i guess it might confuse some people but the battery was only 180mah larger clearly the big jump (in my case 4k/60) was not because of the battery but the redesign of the internals. I fully expected these results and for many it means keep ythe old batteries and charger in use just use the new one first before you rotate during the day. My guess is many who already owned the OA4+3bats+charger will only get the basic package and _maybe_ add 1 or 2 batteries when the old ones go low.

Bit rate... I saw a comparison between Acton 4 & 5 and the 5 was as good or better in most of the daylight 4K video samples BUT the file was half the size!

they confirmed they will improve the bitrate , they selected a smaller bitrate in order to better advertise the internal memory capacity in my opinion , to tell you can have a certain internal recording time , and giving the fact that the codec is more efficient anyway I don't think for the regular user will be much difference , hope we still get the option to select the lower bitrate

A concern many probably have is security concerns, connecting the device, using the app. You probably know which country the camera comes from. So an up to date security, malware analysis of their software, and firmware would be interesting. Not that I need OPSEC, I'm not a military or spy, but I still a valid conners. And some security experts have found sketchy code in previous app software for their drones.

@@photorabz yea, but if it was the case, it means direct access to pc, phone. But probably isn't the case. But I got security software on all of my devices. I'm not a person that some one would want to spy on anyway. Also having to download an app to with use the camera is weird. If I understood it correctly that's still the case right? With Gopro it doesn't. There's no valid reason to require a action cam to need an app and another device. Just buy turn on and record. My issue isn't tha Tim not able to do it. But it being required is silly.

@@photorabz That wasn't the case with Hero 7 Black when I got it. And nobody mentions it. so this came as surprise, and doesn't make any sense. I did not even have to register in the app, no log in. just downloaded the app, synced the camera to the phone, and used it ever since. It's been flawless experience.

I see the Action 5 pro can't be used as a webcam. It will let you use the camera function, but will not send the audio. Low bitrate, no webcam, not as good as it's made out to be it seems

Hi! Everyone. Here's what I really think about the current battle right now regarding all Gopro13, Osmo Action 5 pro and Insta Ace pro comparisons on KZbin. I think the Gopro13 has the best image quality when it comes to shoot outside in daylight I have the Gopro12 which is exactly the same as the13 for image quality. So to film in low light it's a whole other story, Gopro is not made for low light so far and I find that the other brands make a lot of effort to give us a good image in low light but it's not realy good. I think the size of these action cameras limits them. So...anyway I'm going to wait a few more weeks or months for what DJI and Insta360 really have to offer in their bank regarding the image quality in daylight and low light before I make a choice, but it's really interesting to see how action cameras have evolved, to be. And I want to especially thank *photorabz* for his very nice and hard work to inform all of us about that matter.(To be continued...)

The reason for the improved batery life on the action 5 is because they lowered the bitrate dramatically. The reason for the better dynamic range on the action 5 is heavy HDR processing and not natural sensor improvements Its a repackaged action 4 with tweaked software Its a money grab like GoPro

@@mathiassiebert1217 it simply is, this is evident in the action 5 batteries running just marginally longer on the action 4 and not the massive extended run times on the action 5. This is because the action 4 records at 120mbs at 4k and the action 5 records at less than 60mbs at the same resolution. This directly corresponds to the increased run time on the action 5 by approximately double the time since the bitrate was also halved
