Battery Tutorial: Motion Detector (PIR2)

Motion Detector (PIR2)
You will need two CR123A batteries for your motion detector.
Before changing the battery, make sure that your system is disarmed and note that you may here some beeping from the panel when you open the motion detector.
To open the sensor, grip it with your thumbs on the front and your fingers wrapped around the back. Push upward with your thumbs to slide the detector off of its back plate.
Use the black tab to remove the old batteries and replace with the new CR123A batteries.
Slide the sensor back onto its back plate and make sure it snaps into place with no gaps.
Remember to safely dispose of the old battery.

I agree with you all Vivint sucks and I can’t wait until my contract is up. The video is work, you can’t push up, because there are tabs on both side prevent from opening. I got a butter knife to pry it off. That works for me, hope this helps. Yes Vivint send us replacement batteries every quarter, this would be great for Customer Retention Management (CRM).

I seem to replace batteries every year. I was told that they should last at least 3 years. I agree with Lorie. in battery replacement. normally you place one battery one way and the second goes the opposite way. This increases voltage. Your unit only defines the top battery. The bottom should also be marked.

Who else gets super pissed at the fact it does not just slide off when you push up with your thumbs? I seriously want to slap the designer of this. Plus they make you pay for a technician to come out.

E.Milli - it definitely wasn’t a smooth as this tutorial showed. I’m glad it didn’t require tools to access the batteries, so that was a major plus.

Yep. Not as easy as it looks and the tech did a shitty job of screwing it into the wall (corner). Screw is too short to get any real bite into the corner. Shoddy.

Ours was the old model and it had a screw in the bottom. The tutorial failed to mention that. Even after removing he screw I thought it would break when I took it apart. I hope it works when I put new batteries in them. Cheap construction and what in the hell kind of batteries are those?

This was easy compared to ADT Honeywell motion detectors. But they all use the CR123A, so that's not unusual. My panel shows 87% on my Vivent motion detector, but it reads the same with new batteries.

I’m surprised Vivint is still in Business because they suck! And the thing is it’s a hassle dealing with them to cancel the contract. Smh 🤦🏻‍♂️

You can’t cancel. I have tried. It’s impossible. I presume only way is to cancel credit card. I have had the worst experience with Vivant customer service. The system is good. Everything else is terrible.

It’s a greedy company that has created a monopoly in multiple states especially in Utah and Idaho. In certain places your landlord/apartment or house complex management force you to have it because they get some sort of commission. Their customer service is garbage. Technicians are never available, the best way to contact a person who can actually help you is through the sales line otherwise the tech support will only send you to their poorly designed and update website and apps.
