Get an empty quart paint can (Lowe’s sells them) and a progresso soup can. The soup can press fits inside the paint can perfectly. Drill a few holes and you have one of these for basically free.

If you use wood pellets you can cook at a boil for 30+ minutes.

Solostove Lite is a great stove. I would spring for the pellet wood adapter. This allows a peanut butter jars’ worth of hardwood pellets to fuel the stove for about 3 t0 four meals. This is really handy on rainy days.

I have a Silver Fire version. Also own the Kelly Kettle that has been around a long time. It is a water boiler that has a chimney inside and boils water with bio fuel. Invented by anglers off a certain lake in Ireland to make their tea and lunch. Boils water in record time and can add a grid on top to cook on.

I carried this as a backup to my alcohol stove. Now I carry the alcohol stove as a backup to it. It is a true gasifier. But for goodness' sake, doesn't anybody put lids on their pots?
@Try2K3tchup2 ай бұрын
Have you seen Gear Skeptics video on stoves and lids. Kids to retain some of the heat for a faster, more efficient boil but it was only marginal.
@WilliamWorkman-wg1ib2 ай бұрын
@@Try2K3tchup Yes, I've seen that video. It's quite thorough. It shows a small savings with a lid when you cook at high heat, because you are "dumping" so much heat anyway. The efficiency with lid is much better if you cook at lower heat. I also note that Gear Skeptic's tests were conducted with water starting at room temp, whereas when cooking outdoors it's often lower (certainly at breakfast). And I'd say that if you are measuring efficiency so closely that you are choosing pot shape to maximize it, then throw a lid on.
@IAMGWH1Ай бұрын
@@WilliamWorkman-wg1ib Yep and I simmer mostly because I’m cooking real food and the lid helps & when I remove to check on did you see a big wiff of steam come out & condensation on the inside of the lid
@Tiger-78916 күн бұрын
@@Try2K3tchup I watched that video long ago and I don't remember his conclusions... but gear skeptic is generally optimising weight. A lid will still help with your efficiency, especially when boiling larger amounts of water you can really tell the difference. A lid is also useful for cooking and straining :) but that's beside the point.

At first i was thinking "waste of money" But ya it looks sturdy Better than throwing a pot into a fire .......I have a backpack in the truck And i am big on being redundant I have a duel fuel use Coleman single burner stove with a tube of camping fuel And Made my own penny stove out of 2 coke cans as a backup with a lighter And flint. My tip to people like me....carry 20 fish hooks of all sizes And line Now you got something to grill : )

Mine is the 4oz/125g Goshawk Ti multi-fuel wood-gas burner Eddy-200 Pioneer. One cup of hardwood pellets burns for 35 mins active flame & then 55 mins of useable heat, leaving nothing but ash. The Lixada siphon alcohol stove uses the Goshawk stove as pot stand & windscreen at the ideal height, and can be used from below to dry out wet wood that's reluctant to burn, in small twig stoves sometimes hard to keep lit. And all nests in my Boundless Voyage Ti 900ml tall pot with locking handle, similar to the Stanley Adventure Camp Cookset s/s. $55 🇨🇦 but $19 shipping from Australia 🦘 but worth it imho

What pot do you have that fits it so well?
@ML-sj3gi7 сағат бұрын
I wonder if you could cut a can that was slightly smaller than your pot down the side and remove the top and bottom so that when you stretch it open a little it grips around your pot and takes effectively no space. Some holes in the side for ventilation, and you have a good pot stand?
