What I love about these videos is they let me take a closer listen to details I'd probably never notice otherwise, like the bassline being a simple square wave, or the violin countermelody at 0:38.

​@@monsieurnugaiIt's a bit difficult to explain without any visual or audial help, so I recommend searching up what a square wave looks and sounds like, but in short: A square wave is among the simplest waveforms out there and it is very common in chiptune and 8-bit music due to old hardware having very limited sound producing capabilities. The point I'm trying to get across is that Toby Fox is creative enough to write such incredibly rich and emotional music while making use of the simplest instruments.

Wow. You have no clue what thse “Undertale without the main Melody”videos mean to me. I feel embarassed and sad, relieved, overjoyed and thrilled all at the same time. Embarassed because I always knew Toby was an amazing composer, but I feel like a fake fan for not being able to pick out these myself - especially because he inspired me to get into music theory and composing. Relieved and overjoyed because everything I learned about music theory FINALLY clicked just now. And overjoyed because I finally put my finger to what my own beats were missing -- a *melody*. And finally, when I heard this I realized this sounds like something I’ve *made*. I can be as good as my hero someday. S thank you :)
