Saw this game on the e-shop and it’s art style immediately appealed to me. Did some hw on it and decided to give it a shot. I bought the bundle with all DLC and I’ve been really enjoying it. It’s punishing but once you learn the concepts it’s a very addictive and rewarding game. It’s like Darkest Dungeon + Fire Emblem + XCom + a bit of Rimworld’s map style. Keep up the great vids! Very helpful.

These guides of yours have really helped me get a handle on this game. I bought it a few months ago when it came to the Switch but just couldn't figure it out. I'm getting a lot better now since watching your guides.

For some strange reason I like this game. Sadly I never get really far when playing it, even on the easiest difficulty setting (which doesn't seem that easy to me). Listening to your explanations I realize what the problem might be: a lot of what you explain is simply not explained in the game itself. Too bad if you ask me. I think that games with complex mechanics should put extra effort into explaining stuff so that players won't have to rely on wikis and video-tutorials. Instead it seams to work the other way around...

I hope that doesnt turn you off from the game, its meant to be that way. The more you play the more you learn and wont make those mistakes again. I play this game often and im still not good at it, but thats part of the appeal to me. Probably how some people like the difficulty of dark souls, i love the difficulty of Battle Brothers

I agree with what Aaron said. Exploring and learning the mechanics is part of the fun. All those dead brothers will be remembered when you clear the Monolith after many hard battles.

@@nethandelwampa116 there's something to be said for that. After I quit a game I'll think about what I could have done differently and then get the urge to test a new strategy out. It keeps me coming back.

@@nethandelwampa116 There are many things you won't learn by just playing, the only way to figure them out is by checking the wiki, tutorials, guides, etc. Anyway I know how codica666 feels, I love the game but it's just too hard for me... and what's worse, it is even after having watched a lot of FilthyRobot videos and read several guides :(

If it seems counter-intuitive to you than you're looking at it the wrong way. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending this. IMHO throwing the player into the game blind to stumble through the rules is an absolute worst thing a game designer could do to the learning curve. The fun part doesn't start until you know what you're dealing with. To be exact it's precisely between the point where you know what you're dealing with and the point where you know how to deal with it. BUT. The correct way to look at the issue isn't from the player's perspective. It's from developer's perspective. It's the question of what kind of game are you making and what that game needs. When you're making a simple game, simplicity is going to be what your clients come looking for. Whether it's gamer experience level, or gaming habits, or time constraints, or mood, or just plain old intelligence level, it just does matter - if they come looking for a simple experience, your job is to give them a simple experience and that includes getting them to the part where they get to bash things ASAP. And if you can accelerate that with a tutorial than that's what they'll want or even expect you to do. On the flip-side if you're making something complex, then your target audience are the people who are expecting and ready to spend time on RTFM-ing before actually playing. And if it's going to take them hours to actually get into the game, then they may as well spend those hours reading wiki and watching videos, and that's better done through their own browser of choice rather than from whatever surrogate tool you could cramp into your own game's executable. That said, it's no excuse for not providing ANY kind of tutorial like this game did. And if we're being completely honest then the decent thing to do once this kind of approach is taken is for developer to actually MAKE that detailed wiki for their own game THEMSELVES. I mean come on what is ANY game (worthy of being called one) at it's core? Yup, it's a rule set. And since you're selling a rule set, then the least you could do is properly deliver it to your clients, no?

Nice guide! Regarding XP, the 20/80 split as you've described should be accurate as it was mentioned specifically by the devs. I've fairly recently started updating XP values for enemies on the wiki. As with a good number of game aspects, many of these values have changed since build 0.6 (Early Access). It is still a work in progress. I believe the weapon and armor values under the respective pages are generally accurate but I'll be happy to update if there are errors.

Just tried again after watching this, not only did I win that first battle but I managed to chop a guy's head of so I'm happy haha cheers.

It makes sense that undead are not affected by morale and fatigue, though realistically, since undead do rest to let their muscles heal, they would start to fall apart in time. Having decomposing bodies would exoedite that process even further.

Seen your videos and know you fully recommended this game so I picked it up on steam this week and am looking to get into it with your guidance. Amazing detail in your guides, without question one of the most intellectual and underrated gamers on this platform.

Does your character's facing matter? Can you attack units from behind or the sides?
@Reianor
@Reianor 3 жыл бұрын
AFAIK They don't have "behind" or "sides". Facing = IFF. To the right = us, to the left = them. Therefore, tactically speaking, no single unit is actually "facing" anywhere. Your deployment formation has a rear and a front but not the units themselves.

If you camp outside a location for a bit, it will give you the scouting. However, you are likely, at least with goblins, to get an ambush start to the battle (not an ambush event). I know it works on goblins, undead, and bandits. But I've only gotten the ambush from goblins.

Yes! :D but there's 10 other perk later on and I want to learn more about mecanics and how to utilize different perkbuilds for different brothers. :) (Didn't realize how good pathfinder was til u said it, damn I'll have to start a new game I always go student first, but then I'm quite knew to the game)

Oh no, I didn't mean to mislead you, Pathfinder is incredibly niche and I wouldn't recommend it almost ever. Student and Colossus are the perks Filthy grabs in the first tier most often. If you check out his twitch channel you can check out all the builds he uses for his brothers. I do really hope for a perk guild, also a weapon guide and a unique item farming guide!
