My favourite rivals 🤩 People hate on the friendly rivals these days but I loved how they genuinely felt like allies that had their own goals and grew as people in the story! Seeing how they changed in BW2 was a treat too.

I think they are more referring to the one-sided plain rivals. As long as the characters are written well and are more complex friendly rivals can be just as great (if not better) as the asshole rivals.

Toy Bonnie I was the same way. Except when battling Cheren’s Dewott/Samurott. It regularly kicked the crap out of my Pignite/Emboar because I had the bad habit of underestimating it.

Samurott is super powerful with mixed offenses, and coverage with megahorn and ice beam. Plus encore shenigans. But my favorite is Serperior, cause dragon type is my favorite type and it's dragonlike.

This theme gives me chills ❤ 5th gen was not my first Pokemon game, but this is *BY FAR* the best Pokemon game I've ever played, I have so many good memories : the musics, first time we had animated sprites, the story was clearly not childish, our rivals evolve in W2/B2 games, N is the best antagonist ever made, gyms, league and subways were really challenging... So many things ! 🤩 I've never understood the hate on this gen. If the rumors about a remake or a W3/B3 are true, I'm gonna buy it eyes closed 😉

Gen 5 rivals second best rivals- Blue will always be best rival because of both overrating and because of the plot, but I feel like these two and Hugh do so much more for their plots than Blue technically does for his.
