I lived there and went there when it first opened. There used to be a 7-11 next door and it's now a liquor store and Streamwood lanes is on the other side.

Our family moved to within walking distance of Nana's in 1974. I was probably 4 or 5 years old when dad took us there for the first time. Nana's is simply the quintessential Chicago hot dog & beef joint (even though it's in Streamwood). I could go on about how the staff is always super friendly, the food is always on point & the atmosphere hasn't changed in 45 years, but those of you who grew up loving Nana's like I did don't need to be reminded. No visit back home is complete until I hit Nana's for a beef & sausage combo.

Not even close! First, have been going to Tony's ( which is Actually IN Chicago "Southside") for over 35 yrs. They have the consistently same high quality and same taste. Nana's is closer to Rockford than Chicago! And I've been there multiple times over the years; and it's not only nowhere near the great taste of Tony's, but not consistent with quality of beef, fries or giardenara. Tony's is still the greatest! I'm a local Chicago truck driver, and go out of my way to try beefs everywhere I get the chance. Nana's doesn't make my top 10. Maybe the suburbanites like it so much because they don't have near as many options. It's only slightly better than portillos. Which isn't saying that much. If your not too scared to actually go to Chicago's Southwest side, lol, then try Tony's. You won't regret it. Amazing. Your eyes actually water inside on the days they make the HOT giardenara!!
