Zelensky is asking for weapons and not food because Ukraine lacks heavy equipment.

Think for yourself: why would invading army deliberately target civilian objects? Just to be evil? Also vitnesses say it was Ukranians who bombed Drama theatre. They make lots of provocations and fakes during this war: destroying civilian objects, using people as shields, killing civilians and blaim it all on Russians (Bucha, for example). Ukranian nazis would do everything to blaim Russian army in all cins, they have literary nothing to loose if they do that. In Bucha dead civilians were wearing white bandages - sign of Russian army, meaning Ukranian territorial defence could mistook them as soldiers and then blaiming it all on Russians. There are new footage by Patric Lancaster near Azovsteel plant - here is another massacre, caused by nazis - lots of bodies lying on the ground some of them are completely decomposed and DPR are there for a few days. Who did it? Obviously Azov. They shoot civilians, they shoot at soldiers, trying to surrender. Who cares if they commit crimes if all the blaim would be put at Russia anyway?

The action of the hero would be to surrender the moment it became clear the city would fall no matter what and they weren't going to be reinforced... That would have saved so many lives. Every Russian in Mariopol is one less that can attack another offensive. They have been able to single handedly stall over 20k Russian troops and armor for over a month. There is a huge strategic point to holding out. To say there is no point is quite nieve. They also know what awaits them if they surrender…. I think that you're right. The war was also started for demographic reasons, Russia's birth rates are horrendously low, and, if Russia could take Ukraine, they would have more people to fuel their industry, most likely the few milion russians living in Ukraine. Nothing happened today this video is fake. Ukrainians didn't hold all that territory up until today, they were encircled in 3 pockets within a city and now 2 out of 3 are cleared out. There was an ultimatum from the Russians for the remaining (Azovstal) to surrender today, they refused and it seems carpet bombing is already started.

More like 150k were present in the city since most evacuated to other parts of Ukraine before the encirclement and some after by utilizing humanitarian corridors. An accurate number of how many thousands have died due to the Russian aggression is still very difficult to calculate since there is still fighting in the city (primarily around and in Azovstal).

A not so fun fact: around 400k people weren't allowed by the Russians to leave the area and were, thus, forced to become "human shields" so the Russians can use dumb bombs and indiscriminantly bomb the entire city and blame that on the Ukrainian forces.
