Same! I got this game (along with a few others like "Crossroad Crisis") from a claw crane at a Dave & Busters back in '07. I lost it soon after, but I could NEVER remember the name when I tried finding it online!

This was the ultimate party game! Even after I got my PS3, my friends and I would still pop it in for some good ol' pass-the-controller gameplay.

I'd love a remaster of this game, with some actual theme to the level design (beyond just plain gray squares and a black background). The lack of aesthetic was the only thing that ultimately turned me off from the game. Otherwise, I loved it!

Press select to change the color of the cursor to one of the other three slots and create or load another character that way. If you want to use more than one controller, go to the options and set the controller number for the second player character.

I remember introducing this game to all my peer and playing in their houses. The cd was so scratched that I had to buy a second copy. Anyone knows of a similar game?

Since this is just a briefer than brief snippet, I can't tell whether you can control your characters in battle...clarify!

+mthrswd Briefer than brief...? Not sure what you mean exactly, as it more or less demonstrates how the game functions. However, watching the battles, I can see where you would need clarification. The battles, as demonstrated with the top message bar, generally are "auto played" --- however, you see those cards you get? If you have red ones in your hand, you can augment your attack power before your character attacks...there is some luck involved, as you can see, because if you use a high red card, but still "roll"/"draw" a low red card, your attack won't be optimal...it kinda works like this. Say you don't use any cards and engage in battle --- You draw two red cards that are both 4s; your total attack is "8"...if you attack, the opponent defends, shown with "yellow" cards...they draw two 2s; their total defense is "4" --- You would deal 4 points of damage to your enemy because your total attack value is 8 and their defense value is 4. However, characters also have stats...move, attack, and defense. If you go to 4:33 in the video, Mottil's attack cards equal 6, but he also uses a "+5" red card...which puts his attack at 11...and he has 1 "AT", so his final strength that turn is 12 AT. The monster does not use any cards, but Mottil's attack deals 2 damage and the cards the monster drew gave it "8" defense that turn...which means that the monster's default defense is 2, making his final defense 10 (12 subtracted by 10 = 2 points of damage). There are critical hits too and if your defense is too high (Mottil's default defense is decent), you brush off all damage. You can issue some basic commands/augments to your hero.

Vysethedetermined2 But battles can be played where you can choose to attack or defend, etc, right? It's not on autopilot ALL the time, right? I would hope so.

+mthrswd Just watch the part at 7:43 --- it is a segment controlled by a human player (me), rather than the CPU opponents. As you can see, I can select different actions and choose the cards --- I believe you can also attempt to flee battles too (even though I did not do it in the video) that is based on draws as well. However, there is (often) an attack phase and a defense phase --- if you choose to use a defense (yellow) card, you will be safer when the enemy attacks, but when it shifts over to the attack phase for you, your attack will be based on what you draw and your "AT" stat...in this case, my "VYSE" has a high default attack, so he is a destroyer, lol...if I wasn't so sure that enemy was weak, it would be good to use some defense card and limit damage received because I can still output decent damage without using an attack card. You cannot chose to "attack/defend", per se, but if you use an attack card, you hit harder, but you may take some damage during the defend phase when the enemy attacks.

+Chris Blankman I seem to recall pressing the select button would change the colour of the cursor, for 4 players; as all were required to use the same controller

I love this game! It's not amazing but it was really fun for what was available at the time excluding big series like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear...etc. The problem with the game is it always felt like it should have been a portalable game to grind on the go and now you can w/ emulation. ;D Yes!!!

Ahhh..the memories of beating the mess out of others for treasure, escaping out dungeons within an inch of your life, and the uber monster that comes out when the timer runs down..oh the aggravation and excitement.

I put too much time into this game as a kid. Though yeah, the RNG was slightly frustrating, but man, if the gameplay wasn't addictive when you got into it. Just watching this video makes me want to dust off the old playstation and dive into it again.

Lol. Exactly what happens to me and my brother. Thats why we have a rule. Whoever finds the target item first, keeps it. And we try to protect/escort him until he gets to exit.

they need to port this shit to the XBL Arcade or Indie games at the very list. an amazing game that was unfortunately lost to time. i lost my copy about a year ago n im so pissed. weve been playing it forever.
