Sorry for my long absence. We are still working on the Zonk mod, which makes this kind of AI behaviour possible. At the moment, we call the version 0.9.2, with only a few major issues still needing to be fixed. I had to give away my second PC, which I need to produce videos with exterior perspectives, so I am actually not able to properly produce any videos at the moment. Zonk should be in a workable state soon (that means a few months) and when it is, I will be producing videos again. Let's say this much: Zonk will make it possible to quickly make "Masters of the Air" Style missions. Historically accurately and with an AI that works reliably.

Nice mission! So sad that in this game you can't shoot 360° and also slightly down like in the real gunner station. The gun mounting was really genius. It was really simple but provided almost complete coverage of the sky. This was very likely also the reason why they waited so long to introduce belt fed MGs.

Interesting. The later versions in the game have a giant 20mm, which is so clumsy and a nightmare to use ... but hey, it's a 20mm :D

y'know, it is remarkable what a difference belt fed makes to defensive gunnery. So many shots there that could have made a difference and all you got was *click!* must have been frustrating for you Fishy

One of the worst roles in WW2 was to be the rear gunner of a HE112, one of the worst bombers in performance, totally unprotected, JU87 at least had a light protector for rear gunner. More or less equal to be the rear gunner of an IL2, unprotected. The difference was in HE112 rear gunners were performed by men with military career, in IL2 the rear gunner mostly was an ex-convict who preferred to be a rear gunner in IL2 than to die in prison. The you had the Uboats crew, which only survived less than 20% of the overall UBoats crew 😂😂😂. Very good mission @Fishyyy, it's very challenging what you did.

This game is still amazing even after all of these years. The variety of aircraft and battles that can be recreated with them is huge. I know the newer sims have better graphics but you have to pay for all the additions as DLC. IL2 1946 has it all right out of the "box" and runs well on any PC.

Why 5 question marks? The game has a limit of how many sounds it can play at the same time. That limit is reached by the bomber formation. The game has sounds for flak, but it's busy playing engine sounds.
