The throne of England was contested by several men, most notably, Harold Godwinson, Duke of Wessex, William, Duke of Normandy and the king of Norway Harald Hardrada.

Man, for such a small channel, your editing and graphics are very nice! Also, I love your rolling page flip - did you make it yourself? The Normans are really an interesting part of French history that I hope to discuss soon. Here in France, a lot of us are still under the impression that they were French and so William the Conqueror was French (basically, we liked to cockily say France invaded England) but really, they were settled Vikings. Awesome use of Throne of Britannia. A beautiful game although I found it too limited/small to be a stand-alone game. What did you think of it?

Cheers man, The page flip is an effect on sony vegas pro, handy for the end "facts of the battle" scroll. Indeed France and England did have a lot of Vikings that settled. Danelaw in England and Normans in northern Francia.

When we used to re-enact back in our university days, i have fond memories of fighting the Battle of hastings at Battle, I remember we where round shield and spear at the top of the hill and we had a knight ride against us which was very exciting. I got the link to your KZbin from a Northwalian that I work with and I think I may have talked about reenactment in the past with you. Brilliant video and account, I am looking forward to watching more 😊

Very interesting. I have been curious about this battle since I did my dad's paternal ancestry and it went back to Harold Godwinson. The male line so much easier to do, due to there is only one father, female lines are more difficult, because of the many marriages or mistresses... you never know for sure which one was part of one's maternal lineage. What is kind of funny is one of my friends, who is a professor, has his line going back to William the Conqueror. Let the battle begin!!! Hahaha... we get along very well actually.

Great job. A couple of obscure things that I've not heard before, such as the jester myth. WtC is such a fascinating subj., hope you do more about the rest of his reign. I've never seen an in-depth treatment of 'The Harrying' anywhere. Anything on William (and Harold) - and that ridiculously eventful year of 1066 - is much appreciated

I've seen elsewhere that Harold didn't march ALL his troops back down from Stamford Bridge, only the elites. He collected new (but less skilled) men on the journey down.

Thank you! I was apprehensive at creating a documentary for Hastings as like you said it's been done countless times. But, it's my favourite battle and I felt I could do it justice, the music at the start is called Hero theme and it's from the KZbin library.
