That's the end goal of this war and I doubt putin settles for anything less. If he doesn't push that far, it will be a frozen conflict. NATO will defnintely enter Ukraine at some point in the next decade. If he pushes to the Dnieper, it won't matter if they enter Ukraine. They'll be pretty far from Russia proper.

Taking Povkrosk is going to completely derail all supply lines for much of Ukraine's forces in the Northern sectors. Povkrosk is a MAJOR supply hub and losing that is basically game over in the North. And judging by the desertion rates and poor manpower and training of Ukraine forces...Povkrosk is basically spoken for. Russia's already been shelling and bombing Povkrosk for several weeks now.

They’d need Pokrovsk and Lyman, in 2022 they had Lyman but not Pokrovsk so the Ukrainians were still able to supply. If they capture both cities then the supply situation towards Kramatorsk and Slovyansk becomes unstable.

With the new president in the white house, the donetsk defensive frontline on the verge of being broken, the crises in UA manpower and western support, as well as the buckling of the Russian economy and peace talks being mentioned more and more that by the end of the winter this terrible conflict will be completely different. Back in the day I used to play Hearts of Iron 2. One time I played with the British. I broke into Germany and even captured Berlin. In the meantime the Germans would continue their advances in the Soviet Union. I thought at the time: the game AI is so stupid. It would be difficult as the soviets would have followed any retreat. Stalin was about to enter Europe already in 1941. Supply would have collapsed without Germany though obviously so it would have been over within three weeks if they did carry out that tactic 😂
