F4 definitely for me. I love the macro effect and the size and weight, especially for traveling light. The subjects I intend on shooting won’t require any low light help. I can also get a blurrier background if I need to by getting closer to my subject.

Is it worth owning both of these? What bag is that in the video? I’m searching for a new camera bag for travel.

I probably wouldn't travel with both lenses at the same time -- I would instead take the GM plus a dedicated macro lens. However, for some trips the F4 G might be a better choice so you may want to have both at home and pack whichever is most suitable for a given project. Bag is the Action X70 from Shimoda - highly recommended!

@ I’ve ordered the 70-200 f4 for myself. Thinking about the 2.8 gmii for my girlfriend so I’ll have access to both. Now I need to figure out if I want to go with the 20-70 f4 or something different on the wide end. I also own the 200-600

Have you had the chance to use the 24-50 2.8? I’m wanting to figure out what to pair with the 70-200 f4. It’ll be used for city walk around and landscape photos

@@brawpete I personally use the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II, but the 24-50mm is great option that is quite a bit lighter and cheaper. Another good option is the FE 20-70mm F4 G which is really versatile but not quite as good in lowlight.

having a hard time deciding between the two, as one is very expensive and the other is not 2.8... for amature indoor sports (basketball) what would you rather?
@willbl2 ай бұрын
For sports a faster shutter speed is helpful and the light might not always be great so I would recommend getting an 2.8 if you can. If the GM II is beyond your budget, you might be able to find a good deal on a second-hand version 1 lens.

I have a question, should I trade in my 100-400 for any of these? Do you think it’s a good idea?
@willbl3 ай бұрын
I think it really depends on whether you need the extra reach. If not and you would find the macro capabilities more useful then trading it in for the f4 lens could make sense. Alternatively, if you want better image quality and you don't need the extra reach very often then a good option would be the 2.8 GM II lens plus a 1.4x converter for when you need it.

Thank you, you made it obvious that the GM is the one for me
