Thanks again Gert for another great pellet review. Thanks for including us UK sub 12 non FAC guys as well. I totally agree with you over using these pellets in a sub 12. I recently bought a Zbroia Kozak Mk2 smallest (my wife has complained) which uses a 330 mm barell and 200cc res in 177. I am at war on a permission against grey squirells and use the JSB exact diabolos at 8.4 gr which seem lasers. I tried the lighter 7.8 gr express and heavier 10.84 exact heavies. Its zeroed in at 23 metres and no holdover out to 36 metres using the 8.4's. the heavies drop of course and totally agree with you dont go there with the Beasts in sub 12. Have a very merry Xmas and same also to patriot.

Try Spitzkugel, the conic tip ones, those are the best for my gun... cheaper ones and still very good grouping are the H&N excite hammer.. try them if didnt yet and give us a feedback! Gamo Black Fusion IGT Mach1 .177

Hi Gert 🙂 Great video - a what a cool place they´ve got at Patriot . We got almost the same result with the Redesigned in the 600 mm liner. I think that I got the best groupings at 890-900 fps - but nothing to be impressed about! My conclusion was that the Superior liner is not chooked so the pellets dont really like it. With the standard STX it is a quite different story. Simply stacking both the Red. and the Beasts. Red at many different velocities and the Beasts at 950+ fps (950-980 fps) Best regards Peter P

In my Avenge x the redesigns were almost hole in hole at 830 fps. Higher the groups opened up.

I stay with 10.34 jsb pellets same weight in hades pellets and 10.03 in knock out slugs they are all accurate with similar hold. No complaints on effectiveness on pests.

Hi Mike, yes I use the 10,34 a lot up to about 60m, but the permissions I shoot has a lot of wind thus I am trying out heavier pellets and slugs to determine if I can find something that can hold a bit better in the wind. I have a few more ideas and slugs to test, hopefully I can find a good inbetweener.

I shoot a FX Wildcat.177 MK1. It shoots the 13.4 redesigns lights out at 820 fps. I use it for field target 10-55 yds and silhouette at 40-50-60-70yds, 25m benchrest and hunting mostly sparrows and starlings. I’ve heard the MK1 .177 smooth twist barrels shoot better than the later barrels???

Nice! I purchased a little pcp .177 awhile back/2 yrs, for $345. Not saying the brand, but anyways it was so powerful from factory it wouldn't even shoot 10gr or even out to 12gr pellets. Didn't want to shoot slugz out of it because of availability an wear. So I did some research and come up with a nice tin of monster jsb pellets to put through it, again not naming stuff here, low an behold, WHAM! she'll smack down squirrels and bad byrdz out to 70yrds easily! With a mild hawk scope.177 is a beast! Lol

So what's the difference between shooting 16 grain in 22 or 16 grain in 177, with sub 12. You are achieving same speeds.

Very interesting question, the biggest issue is choice, not many manufacturers make 16gr in 177, thus you are limited to competition in the market and thus a race for the absolute best pellet. Choices are limited. Sub 12 fpe I will not shoot 16gr, the projectile is too slow to stabilize properly, there is limited stock of pellets and variety.

Hi Gert, I watch and enjoy all your videos. And I have a question that you may be able to help with. I am going to install a .177 600 mm liner on my MK2 and mostly shoot JSB monsters and the H&N Diablo Barracudas and may want to experiment with some 177 slugs in the future so what’s the best barrel for me the superior or the heavy superior? Both seem difficult to get in .177. My main interest is paper targets at 30/50 and 100m.

Don't waste time with the Heavy Superior Liner, it is built for very heavy slugs, the FX barrels are unfortunately not great in 177. Not with slugs or pellets, I have been experimenting a lot with them and they are not as concistent as my other guns. If paper shooting is your speciality, stick to the pellets, the 600mm barrel adds about 30fps to the gun versus the 500mm barrel, but pellets don't like speed that much. The extra bit of power is handy for shot count. One thing I noticed on my FX is the sensitive relationship between hammer and reg pressure, you need to fine tune it not to have a big speed spread, once the speed is consistent just about any pellet will work. FOr windy conditions I prefer 10gr above 8.44 gr due to the fact that the winsd pushes them 1/3 less, plus if you know the distance the drop in weight is not an issue.

Barrel weights will also do, just changing the harmonics... The challenge is that when a person buys a gun he expects to get value or money. I have tested so many pellets to try and see what works at what speed. Certain pellets just don't work well, even if you change the harmonics. I don't have more money to throw at this, I would rather shoot a pellet that works then try to change my gun to shoot another weight or brand. I am not a big fan of barrel tuners, additional weight to the gun and length.

Artimus P10 & P15 shoot .177 × 16.20g Diabolo @ 840fps - 34.4 joules extremely Accurate ( 6-8 mm and Good hitting power . Drops Rock Rock Pigeons in thier tracks !! 13.43g are a bit lighter but faster with lower hitting Power , plenty feathers flying & so does the Rock Pigeon .

Indeed, they need to do more development on the 177 barrels, the nice thing is that when they get it right I just need to insert the new liner and not buy a new gun.

I think you reg is too low, when you use high power the pellet left the barrel with excess air behind him... Use high set on reg 140/150 and test it again.

Thank you for the reply, I have since sold my 177 barrel because it is basically useless with all pellets and brands. In hind sight the Redesigneds weren't the issue... It took my 1000's of different pellets, weights and velocities to finally give up on the barrel. In short, the FX barrel is crap. The crown barrel you got must be one of the better ones. The inconsistency with gun barrels is irking me, I have 3 HW's , all 3 are lasers. I have owned 4 FX's and about 8 different barrel/liner setups, they are very fussy with pellets weight and tunes, and then some liners are just crap like the 177 I had, I put a LW barrel in there and it made the world's difference.
