This video includes some cuts from December 16th. They include Lanzerath, Krewinkel, Schoenberg, and an introduction to the Lausdell Crossroads just to the east of Rocherath-Krinkelt, the "Twin Villages".

Walking the terrain in the winter makes this so much more relevant. Thank you.

My father was 517th PRCT, one of the original "boys of Taccoa". He was wounded the day before St. Vith was retaken exiting a tree line just a click or so north of the town in a morning assault toward the road leading into St. Vith. The woods are still there. He always said he wished the Germans had gotten him at the beginning of the battle instead of the end. "It would have saved me MONTH of being out that fuc7in' cold!" He was a character, but they all were. I met them at a reunion 1980 in Wisconsin Dells with Dad, whom I drove up from Kentucky to attend. They were quite something these guys. All they wanted was to gather in a big motel room, toss a few back and reminisce. Nothing fancy.

Thanks Bill! I will be around St. Vith for a ceremony tomorrow the 18th if all goes well. I believe there is a 517 marker that I will try and find.

@@MilitaryHistory317 Thanks, that would mean a lot if you could get a shot of that.
