@GetLuckyOutdoors those carter releases have a ton of adjustment. You might like it even more if you tried different adjustments. What do you think the chances are that they just happened to get it as good as possible on the first try? You like it now but you could almost definitely get it working even better for you and how you shoot.

@@GetLuckyOutdoorsThen you happen to get lucky. I've never not had to adjust a release, whether thumb button or hinge/back tension, high quality expensive piece or cheap Asian made... Then again I'm also really super particular about that kind of stuff and I always mess with EVERYTHING on anything. But yeah, it could be argued you didn't necessarily give them a fair shake if you didn't even bother to adjust them to more ideal/your desired settings.

I bought one of those cheap ones and as someone with very little experience with compound bows, the first thing I noticed is how do I attach the hook to the D-loop with one hand? It's going back and I'll just buy a Carter for $258 and never have to worry about it.

Yeah I run an old Scott's design, they made a molded release that fit your hand and fingers. It didn't catch on, but has a few cult followers, like me. I bought 3 plus the one i already owned. Hopefully they last forever. I have a Scott's thumb button that I like too. I shoot it palm out, button down, that's the most comfortable.

You have to remake this video and actually fix your sight to work with the releases and also fix the thumb button to feel good. We all know any change in anchor point will change point of impact. This review is super bias from the beginning. Its like comparing my stan onnex heavy metal to the carter and saying the carter sucks because the point of impact isnt hitting the same spot as the stan. Well yeah no crap it doesnt hit the same spot. Lol

POI doesn’t matter. Groups do. Obviously I’m gonna be biased to an American made release vs Chineseum. I didn’t say they suck because of POI they suck because they suck lol. I made this video to help people decide whether or not the Amazon cheapos are worth it vs buying quality. I stand by my opinion.

But you didn't even bother to adjust any of them? Idk man, I've spent crazy stupid money on releases of various types and bought a few cheap Chinese ones as well. Out of all the thumb releases I've bought, my favorite remains a very inexpensive one I picked up a few years ago with swivel rotating jaws and all the adjustability you could want, and I've been using it exclusively for the particular setup I bought it for with no issues whatsoever. It works great for what I need and it's held up perfectly. Still just as crisp and tight as it was the day I got it. Part of the reason I bought this one in particular too was because it had all of the specific features I was looking for in a thumb release at a fraction of the cost while I literally could not find a high quality American or European made equivalent model that offered all of the same things. If I recall I believe I found like maybe one or two that came relatively close, but they still lacked at least one or more of the primary elements I was wanting and they were like four to five times as expensive. So I either shell out the coin for something I won't be entirely happy with, or I pay substantially less and get everything I want but take a chance on the quality... Seemed worth it to me in the moment and that has since paid off in the long run. Honestly I feel like part of the issue here could just be knowing when to pay a few extra bucks for something that will be leaps and bounds better in terms of quality vs completely assing out and buying the absolute cheapest piece of crap you come across on Wish or Amazon. If you really shop around and spend something like $35 to maybe $50 on a "Brand-X" release from Asia, you're probably gonna get something alot nicer compared to if you only pay $10 to $20. Honestly the whole preconceived notion of Chinese or Asian made products being total dog shit is a bit old-fashioned and outdated nowdays really... Manufacturing in the far east has long since modernized and entered the age of digital precision, consistency, and stricter quality control while many companies have begun to pay their skilled laborers and technicians a much more reasonable wage. Sure there are still plenty of examples of the stereotypical "sweat shop" production lines that churn out wildly inconsistent bottom of the barrel crap, but such instances are increasingly few and far between and continuously being phased out, becoming more so the exception than the typical standard. The reality is that Asian manufacturers are capable of creating some genuinely good quality products these days and are still able to do so at a substantially lower cost than any western manufacturer. The fact that we're experiencing an increasingly exponential rate of hyperinflation and workers are consistently demanding higher and higher wages as a result doesn't bode well for the good old "Made in America" sentiment either as companies are choosing to automate more and more processes or simply outsource their production overseas in order to maintain their operations and to continue offering their products and services at competitive prices. In generations past, outsourcing production overseas often meant sacrificing some degree of quality. This is really no longer the case and companies can achieve similar if not identical levels of quality control and consistency in outsourcing production to the far east. In any case, quite frankly a product being American made isn't exactly a guarantee of quality either... I've seen plenty of absurdly shit items come out of American facilities, and I mean like frequently or consistently shit too. Just ask any stringed instrument dealer about the absolute trash products coming out of the Gibson plant and how much they really don't give a damn about it either. Their customer service and/or dealer support is just as utterly horrendous if not otherwise non-existent, however if you were to ask any average guitar player (who arguably doesn't know any better, honestly most are pretty ignorant and just victims of the industry brainwashing) how they felt about Gibson, they would likely sing their praises and gush about how incredible their guitars are while likely waxing poetic about their "unmatched American made quality". Spoilers: they're *really* quite awful and poorly designed and basically thrown together by low-skill production line workers, but I digress... Anyhow this is obviously an entirely unrelated industry and I'm just using it as an example to make a point, but you get what I mean.

It's funny to compare, did you know that there is a market for cheap supplies and accessories for people with little money to buy and use them. You require a product priced at 30-40-50 USD to have the same quality as a product priced at 2-3-400 USD and produced in the USA, that is impossible. Products with a price of 3-4-50 USD are used to shoot bows with a cost of 2-400 USD per bow. In Vietnam, with 200 USD you can have a full combo of bow, arrow, sights....!

there actually are some "cheap-ish" ones that are surprisingly good. Like the ToPoint TP420 (and yes, first time I bought the green Version - for ...uh... Reasons) used it for well over two years before I broke it by managing to drop something Heavy on the thumbtrigger while it being wedged resulting in a part of the mechanism to brake (so totally my own fault) using another one of them for about a year now and since the Release is quite easy to disasemble I kept the broken one for the Spare Parts - which I did not have to use, yet. costs arround 60 Bucks and surely is not compareable to like the Carter Wise Choice, or something that Prise/Quality Range but it definitely felt not any different to releases for up to about 150 Bucks I tested so far. So if you're on a budget this might be some option for you.

What would a $50 Carter release look like? If you haven't understood by now, you get what you pay for. These cheap releases will never perform as well as a release at four times the price. Adjusting them set screws seems to be rocket science to you because you are not capable of it. It is possible to adjust the trigger in a better way. None of my expensive releases came from the factory set the way I like to shoot them. So according to what you are telling us, they are also junk, expensive junk made in America. But they are not, because I know how to use the adjustment screws and now they perform well. Who starts archery with a 500 $ Bow and spends 200 $ on a Release? There has to be something cheaper for starters or achery has no future. If American brands offer cheap stuff, it almost certainly also comes from a low-wage countrys, but you still have to pay an extra amount for the brand name those parts carry. This will not save jobs in the homeland, but it puts extra money in some pockets. Is there anything out there in archery, that can compete with something four times the price? So what is it you like to testify with that stupid video? Compare a 500 $ Bear Bow with a 1800 $ Bowtech. Both Bows are made in U.S.A but the Bear can´t compete. About them stupid names, do you know how T.R.U. Ball, STAN, True Fire, Hot Shot, Ultraview, Apex or Scott sound to the 7 billion non-Americans on this planet?
