Kinda like comparing a Ford and a Chevy. Either one does the job and will get you there. Electronically there are subtle tone differences that can be eq'd. I think with the wide, flat pad-style footswitch the Boss is easier to tap on and off without having to aim and intentionally press, and quieter too with no audible mechanical 'clunk' that could be a problem when recording miked or during quiet passages playing live. That's not really ever been a problem for me though as I was usually playing loud rock 'n roll at parties or bars, and nobody would ever hear an mxr's switch clicking on and off mechanically in that situation or care if they did. If I needed a chorus pedal like right NOW and one of these was cheaper, that's the one I'd buy. Sound and qualitywise they're that close to being the same pedal. That was interesting when you chained them- it sounded way better than I expected too, but I suppose you could get these pedals to hurt each other depending on how you tweak 'em. Anyway bitd when I played mainly as a rhythm guitarist I usually left my DOD analog chorus on most of the time, set for wide sweep and low rate so it wasn't so obvious. Did not go for the chipmunk tone personally unless it was just for a particular song that needed it. Good review Alan, 'preciate it.

@GearGasms That's the one. I also have a DOD FX90 Analog Delay. Both still work great after over 30yrs. But I'd consider Boss and mxr to be equivalent quality and be fine with any of these. I got my DODs because my local shop made me a sweet deal as part of a guitar purchase. No regrets. I use 'em now with my 10w Vox, along with a Tube Works 'Tube Driver' with 12AX7 preamp tubes. Nice little classic rock/blues setup. My old Crate G40CXL has a real nice onboard stereo chorus that sounds as good as any of those pedals to me. That amp's dedicated to my keyboard now. Playing 15w and 120w Line 6 as my main guitar amps these days, no pedals needed really for how I use 'em. Have a good weekend Alan and say hey to all my old GFs at the trailer park! 😁
