Proud to say that I had three grandfathers participate in this battle from the 67th, 42nd, and First Junior Reserves CSA. All survived though Pvt. Benjamin McDaniel was captured and served out the war in a Union prison. My wife had a relative of the Union side. I can't be thankful enough for the people who keep this place up.

D. H. Hill was one of the finest military men of the war he was cursed with an honest but very abrasive mouth with Lee banishing him to the Carolinas and referring to Hill’s take on the lost order as having him claiming it was to rebel benefit. The term then was croaker and among command it was taken seriously. He subsequently did fine work at Chicamauga and was loathed by Davis and Bragg, Davis also hating Johnson. So it is interesting Hill, Bragg and Johnson were all together in this campaign. If it exists I would like to know more of any interaction and details between them and of the battles. Nathan Bedford Forrest is quoted of Bragg, I believe “why does this man fight battles?” I can only thank you repeatedly for what you bring to my understanding

a book has it that when Jefferson Davis put braxton Bragg in command of the fort Fisher defenses, some Confederate newspaper had the headline: "GOOD BYE WILMINGTON!"

Depending on how you travel from Wilmington it is easy to miss it. Wyse Fork is on the way to.Atlantoc Beach. I own some land about 10 miles from the battlefield.

To the American battlefield trust please look into saving this battlefield I live in wyse fork and it is under threat from a highway there is already one there but the north Carolina D.O.T would like to put a bigger one through which would destroy the Cobb house a union headquarters during the battle countless burial mounds and fox holes please look into the preservation of it.
