People complaining about realism and the abundance of SMGs and semi-autos that were rare in WW1. Just think, do you REALLY think people would want to play a game where they just sit in a trench all day, coming up and taking shots at each-other with bolt-actions all day? No, and first of all, how would the game make it so that players don't leave the trench? Take for example, every beach assault map in any WW2 game. I remember in BF1942, the Normandy map, you'd have people on the German team running down onto the beach to fight the Americans close-up. I highly doubt the Germans moved towards the Americans in that assault, but you can't force players to stay in one-spot. Not unless they made it it so different teams had different boundaries that would kill them if they crossed, but again players would just complain about that. Without creating imaginary boundaries, there's really no way to keep one-team in place while the other assaults. Just like in BF1 there's no real practical way to keep players in trenches and then rush all at once. Maybe in a clan match, but not a pub game. In all war, there are frontlines, but in online games, people run all over the place. In "Rush", there generally does seem to be a "line", and some who cross it can survive but most get cut down. That's why we should wait and see what Rush gameplay in BF1 looks like before we pass judgement. Rush has always been more fun than Conquest anyway. Gamers are hard to please these days. If a game is too different, they complain. If it's the same, they complain. They complain about historical inaccuracies and realism until a game tries to be ultra-realistic and accurate, which then makes them complain that it's boring. No matter what developers do, gamers will complain. I think the only valid complaints gamers have had is Call of Duty continuing to do futuristic shit after nearly all their fans have said they're tired of it.

As someone who has a penchant for The Great War and loves its history and its backgrounds, I am a little perplexed by a lack of brutality. I get it that it won't be like Verdun, or that the Western gamer won't care about offensives at Gorlice Tarnow or big fluid movements on the Eastern and Balkan fronts, but it was a terrifically brutal war with the use of mass artillery and accurate rifles with what were essentially Napoleonic tactics, but I love how it brought much of the time period to HD gaming and the masses. EA has done a great job. :)

If you played battlefield before you know there will be private 24/7 servers. Most likely a small map full of trenches. So you can litteraly hide in a trench all day if that's what you want. If you like sniper rifles and vehicles then trenches are a big no. I'm looking forward to trench warfare, but like the men in the trenches I wouldn't want to spend a few years in them so be thankful that it's not just about that. Peace

Should have been more precise I guess, didn't really mean bullet drop.. But the CoD part is still there or should it be called a lot faster paced gameplay with small recoil. Also recoil drop from Bf2 to Bf3 was tremendous. However, I still liked infantry gameplay in Bf3 and 4 but I would prefer slightly slower paced gameplay.

The HUD when you spot an enemy looks ridiculously big, it really sucks and destroys the inmersion all that amount of stupid icons in the screen.

Play hardcore for the more realistic bullet damage, hud screens and more exciting combat. I don't know how people play standard. I quit after someone takes half a magazine of assault rifle rounds and is able to just run away. Not in hardcore mods. hxc.
