He was right though about the world taking the oil

You're about a hundred years too late.
@porsche911sbs8 жыл бұрын
I have to take issue with this game's portrayal of the rebellion in Arabia. Oil was not discovered in Arabia until 1938. However it is true that the Great War greatly drove up demand for oil and increased interest in searching for oil in places previously unknown to possess it (such as Arabia). It wasn't until 1922 that the Saudi king contacted Western engineers and geologists in pursuit of searching for oil in the Persian Gulf region. Contrary to what this game suggests, when this happened no one knew yet the wealth of oil possessed by the Arabian desert. I'll also note that oil was first discovered in the Middle East in 1908, in northwest Persia (Iran), far away from Arabia. It was not discovered in Mesopotamia (Iraq) until 1927 and in the western Persian Gulf region (Bahrain, specifically) until 1933. So I find the preoccupation the characters in this game have for the prospects of oil in the Arabia to be disappointingly anachronistic.
@Frostwolf0178 жыл бұрын
It's a pretty unrealistic game in general man, I wouldn't go looking for historical accuracy.
@porsche911sbs8 жыл бұрын
Frosty I'm fine with artistic liberties to a make an entertaining game but I don't see the point in this instance in mischaracterizing the historical motives for the Arab revolt and the actors involved in it.
@Frostwolf0178 жыл бұрын
You could probably boil it down to the writer wanting to be as edgy as possible and make it seem like the West has always had its fingers in the oil pot. I highly doubt their were female Arab warriors running around as well but there you have the modern interpretation.

"pays no taxes" Thats false "Never gets conscripted" Safarberlik‚ Medina "Granted priveleges over hajj" Not really‚ no. "Besieges medina" That was Fahri Din Pasha "Makes people starve" Again‚ Fahri Din Pasha "Then the saudis take over" Ironically it was the Saudis who had no taxes at all in their country‚ and only implemented temporary taxes in 2017‚ at 5% VAT tax‚ which is the lowest in the world
@scepticsquirrel3 жыл бұрын
@@kp5602 Pays no taxes: It is an exaggeration by me, yet it does not void the fact that Hedjazis and Bedouins-regardless-of-region were exempt from most taxes such as ashar, animal tax... These were the major taxes Anatolians and Europeans of Ottoman Empire paid, except Hedjazis Istanbulites were also exempt. This is based on the thught that Hedjazis and Bedouins in general are people of Prophet and Istanbulites were the homies of Sultan. This is a fact from official documents man, saying "Thats false" made me laugh. Thank you for that. Never gets conscripted: Again, Hedjazis and Bedouins-regardless-of-region were exempt from conscription as it was also a political tradition for Egyptian sultans who had observance and authoritiy over Hedjaz before Ottoman conquest, since Fatimids have taken over the region. You non-Muslims may not know it, I am just noticing a fact about Middle East. After Janissary Unit disbanded, mobilization (safarbarlik in Turkish as you said) established but like Istanbulites, Hedjazis and all Bedouins were exempt. During Second Balkan War, even Istanbulites put under military draft but Hedjazis remained exempt. Do you understand what kind of blessing this was? Other young men spent 5 of their most precious and fresh years in military but they were lucky to not have it, they had the advantage most of the non-Muslims had. Fahreddin Paşa: I cannot reason with your answer. He was the governor of Medina Vilayet and commander of forces. He was the authority, how can he besiege the city he governs? It was Sharif of Mecca and his loyals who started the conflict and besieged the second home of Prophet (s.a.v.) which is worse than besieging any other city and making it's people (hometowners of Rasul) starve. Then the Saudis take over: This is not an economic matter, oh Allah why do you meddle in affairs you do not know :p I have to tell you that this cool, Wonder Woman-alike Arab heroine is part of Sharifate cause. The rebelled, Sharifate family and their followers, did not held Hedjaz at their hands, Saudis defeated their Kingdom of Hedjaz and caused them to flee their homeland. All of them sought refuge in Jordan.
@kp56023 жыл бұрын
@@scepticsquirrel So essentially you took a specific period of non-conscription that took place during egyptian post fatimid rule and applied the entire thing to the ottoman era? Fahreddin pasha used the prophets mosque to store explosives and threatened to blow the prophets room up if the arabs tried to take it‚ if you read his journal youd know that. The sharifate wonder woman girl is fictional‚ she isnt even a real person. Fahreddin Pasha took all crops and produce from the medina farmers to support the local war effort against the arab revolt‚ theres a reason Medina itself had internal rebellions against him‚ and theres a reason that when eventually Medina fell‚ the people of medina welcomed the arab revolt with open arms. Safarberlik is a crime‚ the fact it happened invalidates your whole "no conscription" doctrine. If youd like to have more fun with the sources I recommend the journals of the Grand Vizier of Abdul Hamid II and the Journals of Fahredin Pasha and his unit commenders
@scepticsquirrel3 жыл бұрын
@@kp5602 I wonder if you suffer hardships from understanding the words of other people. I am simply telling that exemption of conscription of Hedjazis as a tradition began with Fatimids and survived until end of Ottoman Empire. They did not die as other Arabs, Turks and even some Christians died in battlefields and your wishful thinking cannot void the official papers and simple facts. Chill out dude, for Allah's sake I am not holding a grudge for that. Really. Please read it all before any wishful thinking or ideological prejudice. Pasha's memoirs are very famous in Turkey and anyone who read it can feel that he was a genuine Muslim who hurt by Muslims spilling each other's blood. Probably you encountered a Wahhabi-spoiled version of his book or a "memoir" written by another person as a "citation". It is expected to hear because while he sent envoys to Sharifate forces to not fire cannons toward city to not harm Prophet's Mosque, they can tell that "he used the prophets mosque to store explosives and threatened to blow the prophets room up". Wahhabis always shunned Ottoman dynasty because they were not Arabs (because they think non-Arabs are unfit for the Caliphate) and they did not annihilated Shiites. You would understand me if you ever heard about 1802 Wahhabi sack of Karbala . Of course genius, Iknow that sharifate wonder woman girl is fictional‚ she isnt even a real person. I am just mocking this cringy scenes. It is such a funny thing that they twisted Arab culture to appeal and enjoy Westerners in year 2016. I am telling fot the last time, Safarbarlik means simply mobilization and all governments mobilize not only their men but also their economy for war. As Hedjazis were subjects of Ottoman Empire and they were Muslims, Governor Fahraddin Pasha made them contribute food to Army and Navy against the war towards Britain, France and Russia (Christian Empires who ruled over millions of Muslims). Hedjazis contributed less than Anatolians and Syrians, open the famine maps if you need "fun", which is no fun but only grief for me, but I cannot buy the "oppressed Hedjazi" argument. This is not a reason to spill Muslim blood for a Muslim. Again, this is a sensitive topic for a Muslim but if you are a non-Muslim, I can understand that. Have a good day.

This doesn't make sense. The armored train, Zaamurets, was Russian, a member of the Entente powers. Why would it be working for the Ottomans, a member of the Central powers

The song with the female singer in the campfire scene is a Bulgarian folk song called "Zaidi, Zaidi Iasno Slantce" (Зайди, зайди, ясно слънце). It was also used in the movie "300".
