I decided to download and play this masterpiece a month ago but couldn't find a version or patch that runs smoothly on windows 10. Somebody please help me out with this issue.

What is the exact problem? It should run without any problems on W10 too. I don't even need to set compatibility mode.

@@battlefield-1942 After the first game while the map changes a black screen takes over. The only way to close the game is to create a new desktop and then open the task manager. I tried some patches and fixes but they made it even worse. I found out that I'm not the only one facing the problem but there seems to be no fix for thia on the internet, I spent a whole day searching. I think the problem is with the game I downloaded. If only I could get a link to a working game, that'd be great.

Uninstall the game, check if everything is deleted from the folder, if not delete it manually. Then install this: team-simple.org/download/Battlefield_1942.zip Don't set compatibility mode or anything. I never had problems with this game from W7-W8.1-W10 and various hardware.
