The main issue whenever a game company goes public is whatever vision/passsion that was initially present in the company is lost and is replaced with the pledge to shareholders with financial returns. Customers no longer is the main focus

I think it's already too late. They can't make enough money on the old model so we simply will never return to the good old days. (DICE has always fucked up the launches anyways.)

The best way I can frame my perspective is to just recall how I felt at the launch of 2042 compared to now. I had seen some of the footage of the game, played the beta briefly, and despite all of the little concerns I had leading up to launch, I was still hopeful for the franchise and picked it up day one. It was one of the clunkiest and most disappointing experiences I've had in a AAA game. Now, I feel like I'm practically immune to any marketing the next Battlefield can produce. The next game will need consistent glowing praise over a period of months for me to consider looking at it.

If the next BF has such a bad live service again then they can forget about it straight away. The game simply needs more good content post-launch. There must be at least 3 maps + 4 weapons per season.

Screwed up, dysfunctional launches have been a mainstay from DICE, both in Battlefield and Battlefront. Anyone who buys the next game from them and is surprised when it is inevitably shipped in a broken state is willfully ignorant. At this point, buying any game from them on launch is tantamount to saying, “I am okay with paying for broken products on release.”

If battlefield 2025 is not a better version of battlefield 3 or 4 I'm selling my console and never returning for gaming, the younger generation can prop it up. It's honestly not much to ask for. Battlefield 3 or 4 type, battlefront 3, a fps dino survival type open world or even another cod mw19, that's it, that's all i want.

Only reason i never played it is because i hate the legend/operator/character style class system as they usually restrict what weapons and stuff you have per class. Last game i played and enjoyed BF1, didn't like the weapon system of BF5.

Releasing a game that works on launch is the BARE MINIMUM. People need to stop being corporate dick-riders and only give these companies their money if the product is in a functional and content-rich state from the outset.

Battlefield was my favorite game for a long time. They've had their last chance IMO. There is only one way they ever get money from me going forward. If they remastered BF4 and Hardline and released it as one game I'd happily pick it up. Not gonna hold my breath on that one though.

Full agree on the broken on launch. Consumers need to put their feet down and vote with their wallet. Unfortunately the amount of thirst people have for new games and "things to do" is so high sometimes that they willingly pay the price while huffing massive amounts of copium. Once they got our money they really don't need to care as much as we think they should. I stopped playing 2042 after 3 weeks of the game crashing, stutters, and lockups on a rig I built a mere few months prior to launch, using some very decent components. Even when I was able to play it just didn't seem to capture the magic of BF3 and 4 that I used to spend entire weekends playing with my friends.

Hell I want premium back. It made more sense in the day to get rid of it because a lot of us didn't have the money to afford the maps and stuff but most of the playerbase are most likely 25+ years of age and should have disposable income. I want the next game to launch with at least 12 maps if not 15 and the game should add at the very least another 10 by the end of the games cycle.

I played BF2 which was a 2005 release, and BF3 was 2011 (and 2142 which was under appreciated, imo).In that 6 years had multiple expansions, but when that Bf3 trailer hit the hype was insane. Its easy, dont preorder, dont by at release. Dont buy at all, or maybe for 5 bucks at steam sale. Long term veterans opinion. They showed serious attempts to save the franchise, but i lost any beleive they have the necessary abilities. All good developers gone... The problem is that players still are willing to buy shitty games and they get away with our money. Just a seduction for greedy management and investors... Its not EA alone....

Battlefield 5 was the last for me. I tried the 2042 beta and decided to just skip it. I didn't like the operative classes and the maps weren't interesting. It also played like crap 2 weeks before it released. I just saved my money and time just like Call of duty I don't play that any more not even for the single player. To much money just to play one forth of a game.

Same here. After the Beta i decided to not buy 2042. Maybe when price is reduced significantly and so i bought it for around 12-15$US and because friends seem to have fun. And it was fun. Worth the money i bought it for - however not the full price. But definitely not a game like BFBC2 earlier, that i´d choose over other games. Fun part is: I have a Deja vu. With BF 2042 already being the last chance for the Battlefield franchise. While still having my fun with Battlefield here and there, to me it got a pretty low priority. I think, BF2042 already was the last chance for the Battlefield franchise. I don´t know anyone in my friend circle who plans to buy a new battlefield in the future. Reducing my own few left motivation to do so. Annecdotal, but i´d suspect many people to have a similar feeling. Won´t die right away, but likely keep dying slowly.

There are two types of Battlefield 5/2042 players: angry ones that pre-ordered or bought the beta at launch, and the happy ones that bought the game 1 year later for $10. After 20 years of Battlefield games, i think I'm just gonna wait a year on the next one.

People say cancelling 2042 is a good thing, while I agree to an extent, it also sets the precedent that they can cancel every game before a full 2nd year of content is complete.. DICE never officially said how many seasons 2042 would have in total, but judging by year 1 which was 4 seasons, it was easy to assume year 2 would be 4 seasons as well right? Cutting content early for the 2nd BF in a row really just throws the trust out the window of DICE sticking to, and seeing through a full content cycle for any of their games. Who is to say that they won't cancel the next game early as well even if it's really good? The trust doesn't exist anymore.

10 trillion iq dice play, buy battlebit remastered and get it ported to mobile while using that as training experience for the battlebit devs when it comes time to make the actual next battlefield game. I think they should definitely re-examine what is making other games successful within their own genre. I feel even if the launch didn't have bugs, that the operator/hero system was battlefield trying to copy trends from other fps games that they think make them successful without really understanding why. of course it wont happen, but a team the size of dice could easily get that onto mobile I imagine.

At this point I'd say there's like a 50% chance the next game will be the last game in the series for at least a couple of years if not forever...

Two fumblings? Oh no friend. DICE hasn't made a good Battlefield title since Battlefield 4 and you could argue that Battlefield 3 was better in every way. After 4 we got Hardline and the game has gone down hill every title since. I am done being fooled and haven't purchasing anything from this broken developer in many years. Shame the rest of the community hasn't caught on and force DICE's hand to actually be better. The next Battlefied game won't have to be any better because the players do not require it to be better. from bad company to BF V ive spent thousands of hours in battlefield, its always been my favorite fps franchise by far and i struggled to get 60 or so hours out of 2042. Even now i kind of want to download it to see what they have done with it but it has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I just cant even bother to do it, at this point id have to see the next game launch and get great reviews for a few months before even looking at it. And it probably goes without saying but if I see a hero shooter im not buying it.
