very informative. This game brought enjoyment for me that has never been matched. For the little time I was able to play this last year on an Australian server, I realise that it isn't just nostalgia that formed this opinion.

BRF2142 was based on Refractor 2.5, Not quite the same engine as BF2. In 2.5, force fields were possible and they have added the external defined animated bone/skeleton system that could use any size skeleton for making soldiers larger or smaller and of course the Battle-Walkers. Refractor 2.0 had only one sized animated bone/skeleton system that was hard coded in the engine itself. When programmers and designers of the Star Wars mod, First Strike was being created, they chose BF214's engine Refractor 2.5 because they could make Imperial Walkers and Scout Walkers and also force fields. Those two items are not available with BF2's Refractor 2.0 engine.

@@Mustic_Cassoroale battlefield Vietnam did alot right but it was not the best. I'll tie it with second along with 1942, but 2 is the best. It defined alot of the mechanics that the previous 2 brought to the table. How ever battlefield Vietnam did do a number if things better than 2 and that no game has done sense. At least to the degree Vietnam did.

Oh man, It's 11 years old now? This was the first game I played online when I got a 3G connection fast enough - up to then I played those shitty bots in singleplayer. I seriously think it was the best. Just a pity that it (mostly) died with GameSpy, although I'm going to try out that revitalised mod now.

I launched my Bf2142 few days ago, modded it so I could be able to play the offline. Noticed that the LMG system in bf2142 is basically the same they have imported into Battlefield 1 LMGs.

Really? I didn't notice that in BF1 as much. You mean holding down the fire button will increase your accuracy? Also, how did you install your game + mods? I used a method that apparantly EA and DICE shutdown (BF2 Revive) and I'm afraid to uninstall BF2142 after making this video a year ago lol.

Nick930 didn’t they say back in 2016 before bf1 released that accuracy with lmgs is obtained by holding down the fire button.

I find that the lewis gun can lose control after extended suppressing fire. So while it may be true what you're saying, it's still not to the degree that is in 2142 where you can clearly see your bullet spread getting tighter.

Huum I think you could have pointed out that the combat heli work as a jet plane too. Nothing said on knifing: no auto-aim, knife only server. There are was a real gameplay around knife. There was also pistol only server, they were primarily to get points, but also fun on it's own. Nothing said about the over-usage of grenade. At some part of the map (gibraltar especially), you could have said grenade was the primary weapon, lol. A real barrage of grenade, not always fun, but kinda different experience. RDX jumping, bunny hoping, snaking, glitching support turrets, glitching grenades (or just secrets spots). You did talk about abusing of the squad respawner to get atop of building :). There is not enough to my taste about the game feels, the shooting, the matchup, the kinda arcade feel sometime, the changing of weapon that was slow, and some stuff clunky. The variety of gadgets. I still enjoyed the review. Damn, I would have fun working on a remaster of this game.

No mentioning of dolphin dive knifing what I always did. Got me 9000 plus knife kills LOL. Great game to play the knifing game with med pack.

@@TINSTAAFL1 Knifing was a really fun emerging gameplay. It's crazy how efficient a knife could be in a master hand, in some area like gilbratar second base spawn point for defender, a knifer running wild was similar to having a shotgun. If not faster, stealthier, deadlier than a shotgun.

Since then many things have changed Walkers are proven to be completely useless irl and will never really happen in "the future" you'd sooner see autonomous soliders like the ones in titanfall than walkers and their very core design is clunky and slow making them even more useless (i'd rather see a mech suit than a fully fledged mech unit) maybe if 2143 comes around it will be genuinely futuristic (at least for 2020 decade standarts) featuring in depth soldier enhancements, insane exo skeletons (maybe even endoskeletons) and other augmentations (biological kind) the titans and tanks would also be completely differentas well

I don't think we will have a "realism futuristic shooter" until we actually get to the future and how it will be done, we could only be guessing what tech will be used. right now I only see goals for making robots the future of military combat, that is unless they will prove useless aswell and switch back to human soldiers. I'm not going to look or take any videogame based on the future as the real big futuristic realistic warfare right now since they are only supposed to be fun in creative ways than be a actual prediction of futuristic usage in combat.

The only other good battlefield that isn't set in ww2 or ww1. All the other battlefields are soooo overrated.. especially battlefield 4, Holy hell that is the most overrated battlefield ever!!
