Remember reading DICE presentation on how they delivered this on PS3 on SIGGRAPH and I thought to myself, well…considering how much they concetrated on SPUs and the fact that PS3 was a lead platform, surely X360 will simply fall back a touch but…nope, they got all options there as well with similar, if not better frame rate (but with tearing) I was always impressed by how well thought out 360 was, it kept up with PS3 (well, lead it really for most part) until very end. Too bad MS never had anyone as good as ND or Guerilla to push that thing with custom made engine, hence why I think most impressive games for it were multiplats like this one, GTAV and actually Tomb Raider from 2014

Gears 3 and Halo 4 were exceptionally pretty games on 360. I say that as a PS3 guy back in the day. PS3 had overall better looking exclusives but Halo 4 was a very pretty game. I played it in 2022, both the campaign and lots of multiplayer on PC. Still looks great maxed out at 1440p.

Just sharing the same sentiment as others, but I really like these comparison time capsule videos. I ironically started to play my 360 again a few weeks ago too.

@@zonzore On PS3 it looked good, not compared to PC obviously. Compared to other PS3 games though, especially multiplats at the time? It had to be one of the best of 2011 surely.

This was one of the games that convinced a friend to buy a PC. He was hyped for it, bought it on PS3 and then compared it to the version I had on PC when I had just got a GTX670. Said it looked next gen on PC and showed how the consoles looked really badly aged at this point. 1920 x 1080 ultra + MSAA and it ran 60FPS. Just a world apart from the chuggy console versions.
@DanFarrell982 жыл бұрын
I remember the PS3 version had a lot less player count in MP per game. I always wondered why because if it was a hardware limitation how would it work on a low end PC?
@dmer-zy3rb2 жыл бұрын
i think its propably the ram of the consoles that was the problem, i cant imagine the requirements being that much higher for 64 players. if the consoles had like 750mb ram maybe it would already work.
@DDT-lr3zz Жыл бұрын
@@dmer-zy3rb You need 2GBs of RAM and 512MBs of VRAM to run it on PC. Not really, 512MBs was enough considering the fact that high end graphics card of 2005 had 512MBs of VRAM

This was also when pc master race talk was unironically blowing up in the gaming landscape. The system in this video (2500k, ddr4, GTX6-7 series) really did not cost that much money like today's PC components. You could buy a second hand 400$ PC and run this game with 60 fps in 64 player servers at 1080p. That is before considering that games were cheaper and online did not cost any money either.

It's depressing how Battlefield games used to be at the forefront of tech and now DICE really let themselves go
@Yodagamer12 жыл бұрын
I don't thing they really let themselves go as much as they've had their legs cut out from them all last generation by EA.
@theanimerapper63512 жыл бұрын
With the way tech has advanced it's hard for anything to be at the forefront. Maybe you can point at red dead 2 but look how long that took to make
