I’ve reached the highest levels in far more difficult games. All good - this style of shooter isn’t for everyone. These are my favorite kind of games and have been playing them for years. i just played yesterday, first time, and it was a completely new experience to know that every move you do, matters for the best or the worse and your teammates depend on that. on BF Vanilla game it feels like, if most flags are taken you can spend time making donuts in the HUMVee or whatever

People that aren't into that sort of adhd gameplay appreciate it. If you're into running around mindlessly and popping off with 40:1 kd/s, there are games for you aswell.

I have fun, I am also military. But it's really just a high IQ shooter where bullets matter and you can't just run into them. Communication is what you use to have the 360 knowledge you need to not get shocked out of nowhere. It's actually not that high IQ though, it's still not arma. Like I was camping on a compound and killed like 10 dudes running mindlessly. Now they know, I have a gun, shoot gun at enemy far. Ooga booga XD

Finally Enders steps in and makes a realistic statement about this game instead of lifting it to the sky. BF3, the original one, was so unique because it was a casual shooter and somehow managed to create a deep immersion feeling anyhow. I have also never been a fan of hardcore shooters as I never liked games where you simply hide in a bush or a building waiting for other people to move just to get that one-hit kill. That is why I returned Hell let loose after 1 hour of gameplay. I always liked dynamic shooters way more, where you have to move, make quick decisions, etc. I remember testing a hardcore mode in Battlefield 1 back in the days. It was simply not fun having only duels that are decided by a single bullet (the one who sees the other first wins) and then usually you also have lots of horrible teammates killing their own team. Well past Battlefield games have been a blast.

Idk what you mean with campers etc, I've prolly put in around ~80 hours in HLL and pretty much you're always on the move, be it in recon squad or normal infantry. I don't think you should judge the game based on playing 1 hour tbh. after few hours of playing I pretty much kept getting 40-50 kills a game while rushing, you just need to get used to it

Shooters that actually ask for a little bit of patience and a little bit of communication just aren't for everyone. The best people are on them though, because you actually have to talk to eachother and have something very concrete to work towards. When you observe the map and predict the enemy's moves and react to make a play, it's the best feeling. And that's just the squad, when the entire team is talking, that's the reason for playing. The most OP class in this game is definitely not the marksman, it's the grenadier. In these games, your success isn't measured by how many kills you get, it's measured by territorial gain and cooperation. The grenadier can essentially flatten any hard cover the enemy would use to maneuver closer to your position and force them to regroup. The marksman is definitely scary in that it can hold a road or field but it can ONLY hold that one narrow angle effectively. Their low mobility playstyle makes them easy to acquire after a very short amount of time and squad suppression will take care of it, ya'see?

@@EndersFPS it makes you look at and actually read the map. doesn't give you red triangle ESP so smoke grenades aren't a joke... provides a compass so directional callouts actually matter and makes it so respawns are dependent on teamwork and not just die, look for red triangle ESP's. repeat. it isn't even close to vanilla battlefield. it doesn't take anything to throw your body at objectives when your death means nothing in vanilla.

I like a few sim types games, really been enjoying Ready or Not for that Police SWAT team intense action, but that's the kicker... its small team based action in CQB. I've never been able to get into the huge team games like HLL, Squad, ARMA (played A3 solo with AI mission generator a lot though). No slight to the people that enjoy them, but really they just get too autistic for me to be fun. No, I do not want to listen to a literal IRL child tell me what to do because he's Squad leader or worse, platoon commander. BF series has always skirted that line of casual, with some in depth mechanics and a sprinkle of realism and atmosphere (bar the newest entry) and that's what made it great. With text chat you could communicate with the entire team easily, but if you wanted to just play solo or with a small squad of friends it was easily accessible that way too. It's kinda the same problem I had with Red Orchestra. A few players who grabbed the classes first got to play sniper all game with an actual scope to see or an automatic weapon, and the rest of us plebs had to use basic bolt action Mausers or Mosins and be fodder for the better equipped. Best you could hope for was to ambush these guys and steal their weapons.

I used to be like you and hate realism shooters until I understood the skills that mattered were different. Twitchy fast aim isn't valuable in these games. Comunication with your squad and communication betweens squads and the commander is. The aim is to hold territory and to used combined arms to do so. Think total war but you are one soldier in the unit. Why on earth would you try and play this mod if you wanted it to play like BF3? BF3 ruined me for a long time because it was an arcade shooter with great map design, great weapon mechanics, and it felt very authentic. You can't be the one man hero on this like you can in standard BF.

Depends on what you mean by “last long”. The OG project reality for BF2 still has a loyal fanbase and that’s for a much more dated game. Majority of BF fans probably haven’t even played BF2. So if it can hold onto a milsim crowd it can live for years with a small but dedicated community.

I don't get the deal with turning existing games that are more arcadey into milsim. I don't queue up Quake and bitch about it not playing like CS, and I wouldn't play Squad and bitch about it not playing like COD. Mil sim shooters ain't something I would play all the time, but with friends maybe but I still won't play them everyday just some days Im not exactly good at them but the realism makes it kinda fun but also boring when it stretches on for hours and when the pacing is so slow heck I would have more fun doing airsoft milsim than videogame milsims at least I get good exercise and it actually trains me to some degree I just don't see how mil sim videogames apply those because flicking with a mouse to aim ain't exactly equivalent to holding a 20lbs rifle and shooting it along with handling the recoil, videogame milsims are contradictory to their function and features but at least they bring something new to the table and that I could appreciate

@@Ascend_NCOW well just look at it like this Battlefield has an amazing engine. It looks good, sounds good, and most important, has REALLY good destruction. Why would it be stupid to take that great framework to make something for a genre that doesn’t have big budget engines? Sounds kinda gatekeeping.
