I've still never actually used this. I got the M249 from the campaign and it's one of my most used weapons, I've not really touched many of the other support class weapons at all, with the exception of the old school RPK because it's just badass.

The 249 is exactly the same as the MG4 except its recoil is the opposite, it bounces in the other axis more, nothing a muzzle attachment can't solve. The RPK is bad in terms of ROF but it suits my style better and it's cool as fuck. Plus I play Hardcore so the damage output isn't as much of a problem.

I'm not surprised that this is the most used LMG. People have a tendency to not want to change things, so a lot of people just stick with the gun they started with and never deviate. That's what happened to the M16A3, except it was actually good so NOBODY wanted to use anything else.

loadout-"Brick Wall" (as in running into a brick wall) - Aws/mg4/m249- 1x+2x magnifier, flash hider, bipod, no laser or light. use 1x to move around and magnifier to hold long?open areas for team advance. alternatively can be done with 3.4 or 4x sights if you lengethen your engagement distence and can deal with using higher power sights in close quaters.

I don't really like the gun, but it is one of the only guns I enjoy using 3.4x or 4x scopes on since it doesn't jump all over the place. It really is a support weapon, you have to be more campy and methodical with your movement to really succeed with it.

I don't think I have ever used this weapon post-BETA. Upon full release I immediately went through the single player campaign and unlocked the M249. I maxed that out, then maxed out the MG4 and now I can't wait to try the AWS! I didn't like this gun in the BETA at all so I mainly ran support with my trusty ACW, which I still use religiously with other kits.

I haven't touched this gun since the Beta. I played the campaign through and have used the M249 ever since if I decide to run as Support. I tried the MG4 and I can see why it is so popular, but I think I have just gotten use to the M249.

The PP-2000 is slowly becoming one of my favorite weapons in BF4. I didn't like it at first because of its ineffectiveness at short range, but I'm more of a mid to long range shooter anyways. So after learning the effectiveness of the gun at longer ranges, it is now my top PDW and ranks 3rd for most kills.

Hey Lvl. I have tried to explain this in a couple of your vids. Hopefuly you see this now: The reason why there is a bigger gravitational pull is to get rid of aerodynamics... The devs had the choise: 1) Make the game do some more calculations on top of the bulletdop (aerodynamics) 2) Increase the gravitational pull for those bullets that experiance a bigger bulletdrop thanks to aerodynamics. The movement is eventualy the same whether it is caused by gravety or airdrag. This way, they can leave one calculation behind wich eqauls less computing power that is needed... I hope you understand now and my explination is once again not in vain! PS: Sorry for my Enlgish :p

I think level cap should do a RPK-12 review, lighter LMG's like the rpk12, u100, and AWS seem to bridge the gap between Assault rifles and heavier LMG's which tend to be my favorite type of weapons.

I think its pretty clear why the U-100 is the most used LMG for the support class: Anyone and everyone who plays support and wants to use an LMG has to start out with it. In other words, pretty much everyone who plays BF4 has to use it in order to unlock the better LMGs. I think its pretty safe to say that pretty much everyone stops using it once they have the other LMGs unlocked. So to call it "popular" is a little bit misleading - its the most used but definitely not the most popular.

Cool Loadout! Class: Support Primary - RPK-74m it is the most acuurate LMG in the game. You won't win too many close quarter bouts, so try to stay back with your team; and pop off some kills from long range. Secondary - Shorty-12 gauge or Compact 45 - With the Rpk for easily dispatching your foes from medium to long ranges, you are going to want a sidearm with some serious killing potential at close quarters. The shorty and compact are easy fixes for this. Also, the SW40 if you like striking some navals. Gadgets - M224 Mortar - when your team is advancing into a whole group of enemys, your rpk can only do so much. The mortar will suppress your foes with ease, disorienting them and making the easier targets. Also, it makes it a lot easier for you to advance twards the now disoriented enemy. Ammo Box - "I NEED AMMO!" - Battlefeild players everywhere. Being a heavy gunner means sticking with your team. Sticking with your team means them and you are going to need ammo, don't disappoint. Like seriously, do you even know he many points you can get with this? 'Nades - M67 Frag, ever since this new patch it feels like you can chuck them as far as a mini. They can kill in one lob, they do work bruv. Field Upgrades - Indirect Fire - it gives you the ability to GIVE MORE AMMO! So good. Also, it helps the effectiveness for the mortar, once you start poppin off 3 kills with one mortar fire, you can't go back. I hope you enjoy using my loadout, it is fun... It's pretty decent compared to the early unlockable LMGs, which is why it has more staying power than the other classes early guns. I got (un)lucky and got nearly all the attachments for it in my first 10 gold BPs, so I've been using it silenced with a stub grip and IRNV and have had really good luck. Can't wait to get better attachments for my other LMGs so I can switch soon though lol.

the bullet drop depends on the weight of a bullet and the speed of the bullet when it leaves the muzzle. So it is easier to change the pull on the bullet than to document each type of ammo and calculate the bullet drop that way.

Man these slow ROF weapons do not need faster ROFs, they make up for it with their ridiculous accuracy especially during sustained fire. Personally, I wreck the front lines of the enemy with this weapon getting at least 6 kill streaks every life. And this is on cqc places like locker and metro. You just need to plan your engagements and be accurate. The gun will do the rest.

Low rate of fire and it takes so many bullets to kill. Plus its inaccurate like all the other LMG's. Even the G36C is hard to get kills with (I still use it for the challenge) but this gun, I just can't find any reasons to use it. But then again, I also use the CBJ-MS and its one of the worst guns in this game.

Actually, if you look at the statistics, this gun is more accurate than most assault rifles. It's only downside is the low rof and damage. You can hose somebody's head from across the map with it.

Vmt16 you are absolutely correct sir, this weapon does require a more defensive play style and that could affect how helpful you are as a support player, however if communication with your team is achieved and you all move as a team, this weapon can still be effective because you won't be taking enemies head on alone. This will allow you to stick close to assault users but still play cautiously allowing you to use this weapon effectively. Then it's not so bad.

For those still playing in 2018, or those just getting BF4, I wanted to point out a couple things abut the U-100 MK5. Although maybe not the best LMG to use in Multiplayer it is however one of the best guns to run with as secondary in the Campaign. As is typical of You Tubers in a mad dash to put out content LevelCap left out one important feature on the U-100 MK 5. That is it has a BURST FIRE mode. In the Campaign that makes it one awesome DMR type weapon in single fire and an good medium range option in burst fire to since it is outfitted with a 3.4 scope. in Campaign It is a pick-up in the South China Sea Mission here is a link to a guide for all Tags and Pick-Ups. kzbin.info/www/bejne/foe4eph4br6lebc The location is detailed at 6 minutes and 15 seconds in the guide. And if you are wondering and just never thought to try … yes … in Multiplayer it also has the bust fire mode. I went back to the U-100 to level it up some more after doing the MG4 and AWS. I wasn't aware of the tap fire mechanism in game at the time, but one of the base maps with the huge hotel with the parking garage underneath (forgot map name because some maps have similar names.) and actually picked off a sniper with it. I see the gun as a perfectly fine weapon, especially if one could get a grip on it so you can be more accurate without a surface for that bipod. Though I play PS3 not PC, so the keyboard probably isn't as good as sensitive analog sticks. I would recommend running the gun longer for a heavy barrel and a grip of some kind, at that point the gun is pretty much a assault rifle with a larger mag. Plus you can get the perks such as ammo and C4 from the support class.

Good vid as always. I'd like the revolver trigger delay removed and guns to perform closer to their real life counterparts for example give the G36 high hipfire due to lightweight and higher ROF. If some become imbalanced so be it. give more XP for a kill with an inferior gun.

I believe it happens when a player you just revived comes under fire and their health gets really low (under 5 health), then throwing the Med Kit at them actually kills them. I haven't tested it to be sure, but I have two teamkills with the Med Kit and I can't think of any other explanation.

sorry levelcap but i would just like throw this out here since its been urking me with the past few times about the "double gravity" you've been saying, gravity on earth is a term of acceleration thats clocks in at 9.8m/s^2, so essentially, gravity pulls something down 9.8 meters per second/per second, until it reaches terminal velocity, so doubled gravity would turn out to be 19.6 m/s^2, but yes, i agree that different gravitational effects on bullets can be a bit wonky for a game, hope this cleared it up for ya, and anyone else!:)

I can see where you're coming from, and while I am good at compensating for recoil, I personally prefer not having to do much compensation which is why I usually tend to stay away from the 7.62s (apart from the M60E4, of course) which is why my two favorite LMGs right now are the MG4 and, of course, the AWS. Thanks to their fire rate and low recoil, both of these drop people just as quick as weapons like the M240B. I've just always preferred the fast firing, low recoil, 5.56 LMGs; which is why I absolutely adored the L86A2 in BF3, and desperately want to see it return.

1.5x first shot recoil multiplier with a angled grip which reduces the fsr by 1/3 would reduce it by .5, making the fsr 1.0 which should mean every shot has the same recoil. Badass

I am really liking the U100, I mean, at first I tried using it as an LMG and loathed it, close quarters I got slaughtered...but then I tried seeing what could I do to make it work, and I found this to be one of the best uses for the U100: Privileged DMR. Throw in a 3.4X or a 4X scope, heavy barrel, angled foregrip and put it in semiauto mode and this thing is a medium-long range beast! Nearly no recoil, faster RPM than most DMRs and better accuracy when shooting quickly - At least that's my impression, with some DMRs when shooting two or three rounds as fast as I could pull the trigger not all rounds found their target, this is not the case with the U100, I can fire 6 rounds as quickly as I can pull the trigger and the rifle stays on target and all rounds hit. I'm really enjoying this rifle, the semiauto mode really works like magic on this rifle.

Levelcap the reason why some guns have more drop is to simulate the drop in velocity over range because of air resistance. It's not perfect but its variety at least

Agreed. I actually played the campaign before going online and unlocked the 3 end game guns. I never used the U-100 once I first logged in and compared. It's been my baby for a while, but I switch up when the map needs a more accurate LMG. It surprises a lot of people with it's fire rate and 100 round mag. I'm surprised not more people use it. Plus, I've taken out MANY long range targets with it tap fired just because it can put out more bullets faster and for longer.

The only reason why carbines might be considered 'too good' is when a highly skilled player can make effective use of something like an ACW-R and also have unlimited ammo for it by playing support.

It's all about the players personal skill to learn the lmgs recoil pattern and learn how to control it. Master the recoil and now your have a controllable high damage, fast fire rate beast that is something to be reckoned with

This as well as the RPK models are my favorite lmgs period. Low fire rates and controllable recoil allow me to be very mobile at range and still make good hits. The mag fed while lower in round count reloads significantly faster keeping my gun up and running so it's not as bad as everyone thinks. The M27 IAR was my favorite in BF3. I love mag fed lmgs. I only wish the RPK models had the 100 round drum on them. Could increase reload time to balance it. 100 round drum on this would be nice also. I love all these slow rpm tap fire monsters.

i love the TYPE88 lmg, my favorite lmg ever since Bad Company 2. it was crap in BF3 but it rules in BF4 due to the 200round magazine (not many lmgs have one), faster firerate and low recoil. it's a chinese BEAST!!!

yolickerss tbh it was trash in bc2 and bf3 its only competitive in bf4, like in bf3 every lmg was just bad, and in bc2 basically ever other lmg was better

Peter Petersen us ps4 owners got it and yes it's laggy as hell I'm not even playing on them. The u-100 mk5 I actually like it it a fun gun I've unlock a few LMGs but haven't use them yet I'm just used to reloading with a magazine instead of a belt back in BF3 I was learning to used belt feed LMGs my favorite was the m240b if I remember correctly I had fun with too. I personally like this machine gun mainly because it reminds me of the M27 IAR from battlefield 3, i got a lot of kills with that weapon and really loved it for longer range combat.

I can't remember last time i saw this gun being used... The most used guns were MG4 and for the people not having unlocked it yet it would be M249, then PKP. Now i'm guessing the most used is the new beast of a gun AWS.

Iv been loving the AK models. The tap firing works really well. Taking people out on lagging dam from obj D that are standing in building B.

I never really used this gun, since I played the campaign and unlocked the 3 end game guns first. I used the M249 to get my support class going, and it's still my go-to LMG. The U-100 just felt so slow and like an AR with extended mags; just wasn't there for me like the M249 was.

There seems to be no lag or rubber banding on naval strike on the PS3. The new deathmatch levels are all long range except on the carrier (which has dark areas making the tac lights useful). Was having blast playing today.

It's funny you called this gun a stepping stone. When I started in this game I tried support (after about a week as nothing but a sniper)and I thought this gun was so bad that I gave it less than 20 mins. Then Second Assault came out and I unlocked the M60 (because you don't need support to do it), there was suddenly light for the support class. I barely gave this gun a chance and now the support class is my second most used class (thanks AWS)

I played it with the angled grip, a 4x scope, and sometimes a vertical grip. Easy to go beast mode on any player with it.

I prefer using the 800 RPM machine guns because you can tap fire quicker, 200 round belts meaning anyone who comes too close is Swiss cheese, and if you can't kill that sniper on the hilltop, shoot in his general direction and he'll be too suppressed (hopefully) to kill you

in real life, different bullets fall to the earth at the same rate, 9.8 m/s, but since some bullets go slower and have different weights and power behind them, they do technically drop more when compared at the same distance to other higher velocity rounds. programming bullet weight and such into Battlefield would be overkill, so Dice just changes the actual falling rate of the bullets.

I think people also like to use this because alot of people dont like carrying around these bulky heavy machine guns. they like something with a quick reload and more assault kind of a gun. (but thats my opinion)

What I like about battlefield is the starter guns stand a chance against the higher level weapons and that is why I still use this Over any other leg

At first I thought the T88's work for tap fire until I tried do it with the M249 and from that on, I stuck with the M249, with 800rpm, you can go full auto in CBQ and tap fire in med to long range, the ingredient for the best of all worlds.
