@@ButterzPapi Amen. Battlefield shined for me when it was simple. Like BF1, BF3,4. They need to go back to their routes. One can argue that BF1 had alot going for itself but it was a solid game. I would hope they revert back to its simplistic nature. I used to love getting map packs with 4 banger maps and then have challenges for guns. I've had enough with the "point" system.

DICE grew too confident with themselves. They thought they could treat the community like pure garbage and they'd still have a loyal following because nobody else was offering what Battlefield was. They thought they could take 3 years to deliver a half-finished, buggy mess and people would keep coming back. It's so obvious they're not used to hate and criticism and now have no idea what to do. They thought they could release an early access game for $60 then take a whole year to fix it and include content in a market where well polished, fully fleshed out games can barely compete for an audience and die within a month. DICE thought they'd forever stay in the spotlight, no matter how bad they treated their fanbase.

I'll be a bit of a devil's advocate here and say it was an uphill battle from the start to make WWII - one of the most done-to-death wars in gaming - feel fresh. They clearly tried to freshen it up by giving us locales that aren't usually present, like Rotterdam and Greece and Norway. But I agree, it feels...off in a way I can't quite describe. It feels less like a WWII game and more like a different game with a WWII-tinged coat of paint hastily slapped on over it. Nothing feels - for like of a better word - iconic. BF1 gave us some iconic battles (though they waited pretty late to give us the most well-known ones *cough* Apocalypse *cough*). This just feels...soulless.

I mean it's World War II. There were campaigns all over the world, from Burma to the Soviet Union to North Africa. World War II is done to death in western Europe, sure. If they truly wanted to tell "untold stories" they could set it in southeast Asia or China or really the USSR, places that have rarely (if ever, in the case of the first two) been explored by AAA titles in this space. Do something in Malaysia or the Dutch East Indies if you want that early war Axis sweep vibe. Do Operation Bagration, Minsk, something like that if you want something European and new. It's not that hard! Focusing on the same areas as always but swapping out real people for their characters isn't really exploring some untold story.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I do think that Battlefield can bring a lot of players back if they give the players the client side option to disable female soldiers. The way that DICE and EA reacted to criticism of female soldiers is what drove players away.

Sad this will probably our last "AAA" console WW2 era game on modern gen consoles, many been waiting since bf1942(wasn't even on consoles) (and bf1943 was an arcade console game barely counts) for a bf ww2 game and Cod: WaW for a cod ww2 game. Yet we get rushed half-assed games like codww2 (I enjoyed it, but it was only one part of the war and community wanted it dead on arrival for existing) and bf5. One made much worse than the other cough bf5 *cough*. I wish they just updated/upgraded bf1 from ww1 tech to ww2 as a new game or even made it a built-in expansion of bf1 instead of a whole "new" game. Now we will probably be going back to the modern era games... Sorry for my poor spelling/grammar and the morning rant just very upsetting as someone who really likes the ww2 era

A company like DICE made Battlelog, the most versatile Battlefield UI IMHO, but downgraded everything from it, from 3rd Party Servers, a proper Server Browser and thousands of unique servers featuring cool rulesets, to a UI that cant hold enough game modes/rotations. This game is a disappointment.

I love how you have 2 perfect examples here. Doom Eternal was delayed because they werent afraid to disappoint fans with a few months delay, because the integrity and quality of their game was more important to them than the release date. They steaight up said "We dont feel like the game is good enough." And that game kicks ass. And then you have Dice/EA. Too afraid to upset people initially, so they cut corners to get it out on time. Now many more people are pissed off than there would have been back in November '18. Take note developers. More headache early on will avoid much, much more headache later.

The Middle East and South Africa servers were set up to fail, there was literally no option to navigate to these servers from the menus, you had to magically know the server ID which kept changing every few days, the servers lagged so hard even though the ping was lower than the EU server, also when ever you would join a quick match they you will get connected to the EU server not the Middle East server which is closer. These issues were on BF1 and never got fixed.

U r right. I live in south east asia. There was 1 or 2 servers in japan to play with low ping. But at the end of 2017. There are only eu or us servers. The japan servers are so rare that when it pops up. Everyone try to get in. It always a 5 or more players queue before i can play. I get so frustrated to the point that i quit the game before the last dlc (my most waited one). And join cod ww2. And till this day i still havent purchase bf5. Even when it was on discount 4 half the price

I can't even get worked up about this anymore. After recent events it really makes you realise that time is precious and that games like BF5 aren't worth any of it. I'm just going to go and find one of the many games I've missed out on while I was still holding out hope for BF5 to make a comeback that is never going to happen.

Honestly if they release an Eastern Front update, I will be back and playing everyday. That is where this game failed. When you think WW2, you think Stalingrad, Kursk, Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and we got none of that. The Pacific theater was a great addition but can we add the Eastern Front for love of God, huh Dice?!

The game shouldve launched with the European and Pacific fronts because thats what defines ww2 for most people, I know they didnt want to release just another ww2 game with the same battles and aesthetic and instead explore the more unknow battles of ww2 but a ww2 game should release with the main fronts and have the unknown fronts that the game released with as DLC

Core game mechanics are so bad/unbalanced that not even the eastern front would save the game. Imagine running around stalingrad with buggs and lagg fighting misaki's with type 2a's.. Honestly they should just stop supporting bf5 and pretend it never existed and focus 100% on the next game.

Tell me, does that make any sense at all in the Pacific? As far as the other maps in Europe I can understand cause there were female resistance fighters at the time. What's frustrating for me it's the small things: the assignement system, the balance issues, hackers, TOW system as a way to introduce content. When you then add all these up you get one of the worst games in the franchise.

BF5 in terms of core gameplay (gunplay, revive system etc.) is a great game. What makes it a letdown is that it falls short just about everywhere else. The frustrating part is that it isn't really a bad game, but a poorly supported one that doesn't even come close to living up to its full potential.

So how is it that they have made a worse game than it’s predecessor? BF1 is how WWII should have been done. We should have gotten regular DLCs where we don’t have to grind for days just to get new guns and cosmetics. The Americans should have been present from Day 1. There should have been more famous battles, such as D-Day or Market Garden, or even Stalingrad. And the weapons should not have their balance changed every 4-5 months to the point that I have to figure out how to play the game again. This previous point is made worse by how the Time to Death is extremely fast. And Operations should not have been ruined.
