Excalibur01 I’m history buff myself but I don’t mind inaccuracies like these. I mean yes they sort of take you out of the immersion if you notice it, but it’s not incredibly bad like Nordlys (I hated the gameplay and story). At least it’s better than the total rip-off of COD WWII and other WWII media such as Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. I feel like DICE was able to tell somewhat good stories and gameplay even with these inconvenient inaccuracies.
@JustSumGuy015 жыл бұрын
@@nap0038 At least COD WII didn't have completely made up events. Aside from the jeep that can derail a train, most of the missions there seemed to be based on some sort of reality. The part where you are controlling a French resistance member does make sense. You weren't single handedly stopping the NAZIs from getting a nuke or on a 2 man mission/solo mission in Africa. At least the Colonial troops sorta made sense

That was not the least of the problems with that sequence! Spitfires and Blenheims on a daytime run over Germany in 1943...NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! The Spit did not have the range to go grom England to Germany an back! The Blenheim had been retired from frontline service in Europe by 1943. And besides, by 1943 the RAF had abandonded daytime bombings of Germany and switched to nighttime bombings. It was the USAAF that did the daytime bombing runs over Germany. And they sure as hell did not use outdated Blenheims nor Spits. And Bf-109's with tracers comming from it's wings yet has no gunpods mounted under the wings is just fucked up wrong! The last Bf-109's with wing mounted guns as a basic configuration was the Bf-109E, and they had been retired from frontline duties by 1943. The Bf-109 F's and mainly G's were the standard Bf-109's by 1943 and they did not have wing mounted guns in their basic configuration. 15 or 20 mm guns could be added in gunpods mounted beneath the wings yeat they are clearly not present here.

Honestly i've always hated battlefield aircraft controls, like it has one of the worst layouts of all time. I love playing simulators like IL-2 and DCS or even arcadey games like Ace combat and War Thunder, flying planes in those games feels good, it's comfortable and you're able to get the best out of your play. But battlefield's aircraft controls are so fucking awkward that I feel like I can barely keep my plane in the air in most of the games, and BFV is the worst with it cause so far it was the only one where i couldn't find an option to change the control layout.

Regardless of the incredible historical inaccuracy of this game and this war story, I love it. It’s my favorite battlefield opening ever. Battlefield 1’s is my second. That soliloquy towards the end: “Man’s unworyhiedy creation, what led it back to us? Does a hidden hand guide it? Birthing us in violence and blood, ending us in fear, alone... until you’ve pulled the trigger on an enemy; you’re not ready for war. You’re only ready to die...Beginnings, Endings, in between one and the other; between first and last. Always searching, sometimes finding: Brothers, Sons and Daughters, Mother’s and Fathers; we have no world without them, and there is no other world.” THATS just goddamn tragic, beautiful, hopeful and cynical all at once, BF1’s opening was more epic and dramatic and it’s end was as well but this one is emotional, family, even in war is what you cling too, it’s more valuable than any gem or title or level of fame, because we have no world without family, and there is no other world, and that hits me so hard every time I get the chills when I hear those words. I’ve lost a lot of family, my uncle in the Gulf War, gramps in because of the affects of agent orange which gave him heart disease after Vietnam, great gramps in WW2, his uncle in WW1. So many of my family members have died and even if I never knew my great gramps of great grand uncle I still have connection to them, pictures of them have a new meaning when you realize one died on Omaha beach, another in rural France, one in a hospital bed because the government sent him off to fight a war we could never win and he got exposed to our deadly chemical weapons, and the last one in another pointless war we never needed to be involved in. War is mans most unworthy creation. Our failure to remember the mistakes of the past led to two world wars, war is led back to us by greed, and hatred, but it’s won by courage, strength and hope, it’s waged with suffering, pain, and atrocity, but it’s effects are peace, freedom, and longevity. Human hands can create medicine to heal and tools to build, and also weapons to kill and bombs to destroy. I got all of that from a video game opening, you can’t say that’s not masterful, poetic, emotional and hard hitting, or maybe it’s just me. Regardless, these two games made my childhood better. Yeah there’s stupid shit and they abandoned BFV when it could’ve been the best WW2 game ever but the music, the “only in battlefield moments” I had with my friends, that’s what I’ll remember, I’ll never forget what DICE gave us in these two games, and I’ll always be grateful for it.

13:49-14:49 hits hard for me and the background song does too. My mother’s uncle served in the Second World War managing to the survive the first wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He is buried among tens of thousands who have seen war, lived through it, feared it, died in it and saw the the tragedy that war can play on mankind. However on the flip side you were forced to do that atrocious shit to continue the game and not in some sugarcoated way then i think the game would be highly successful. Take "Spec Ops" for example you do a lot of genuinely terrible shit in that game and everyone around you objects to it, tries to stop you etc but you do it anyways. And the Spitfires did not have the range to escort bombers from England to Germany and back. Fighter escorts whould have been US P-38's, P-47's or P-51's!!!! Bf-109F's or G's without Rustsätze did not have wing mounted guns, still we see tracers comming from the wings. No...no, no, no, no!!! The last Bf-109's having wing mounted guns as a basic configurations were the Bf-109E's and they were withdrawn from frontline service well before 1943. This looks great! Too bad my current pc could probably run this only at low settings. At least that's the thing for Battlefield 1: it runs at smooth 60 fps on low settings and 1080p most of the time but unfortunately the cutscenes often freeze when the game is loading the level and my hard drive makes a lot of noise when it freezes :/

I can't stand the Nordly's war story. So we're just supposed to forget about the actual Allied SOE teams that blew up the Norsk Hydro plant and sank the last shipment of heavy water aboard a ferry in deep water and believe that a random Norwegian Chick killed half the German army in Norway and blew it all up herself with a little help from mom? And as for the German campaign, they're probably going to do something stupid like EA Battlefront 2 (which promised a Imperial campaign) and make it so instead of actually being a German campaign through and through, the Germans decide to "question their ideals" or something like that. Also no Tuskegee Airmen? I would have payed good money for a Red Tails campaign with p-51 mustangs.... :(

Nordlys takes place before the actual mission. The ending of nordlys talks about the real life mission. People need to stop complaining and play the damn game which addresses 90 percent of people's complaints in the credits. Also pretty sure plenty of Germans in the spring of 45 were questioning why they were continuing to fight a compeltely lost war.

Brandon Bojanowski But the question is why do they feel like they have to make up stories instead of going with actual events. I thought the purpose of war stories was that they told the untold true stories of the war. It makes no sense to make up stuff for a campaign in a WWII setting. WWII is one of the most documented wars in history, there are plenty of scenarios and events that have not been used in games before that many people don't know about. Is it not right that those stories should be told instead of made up ones? It's like a Civil War game that replaces Joshua Chamberlain and color Sgt. Andrew Tozier at Gettysburg with a bunch of school girls.

@@karlmarx9267 because to make them fun for a battlefield audience they would need to still twist the story to make them more action packed. Also they would need to get permission from those involved whose lives they want to retell if they wanted to be respectful. That's generally not possible. In short fictional stories allow them to avoid legal issues and also make the game fun
@karlmarx92676 жыл бұрын
Ok, but even if they rewrite the stories minus specific character names, there's still plenty of ways to portray the actual events (maybe with a little action sprinkled in there to keep the audience happy) rather than writing a whole story in an event that didn't take place and porting in a modern political backdrop and 2018 views for each story. You can write a story about the Warsaw uprising in 1944 drawing inspiration from accounts of people who were there and events that happened there. That is what a lot of novels do, for example Jeff Shaara's WWII trilogy. The fact is that it's very possible to make a gripping gritty experience while also drawing from historical context and real history. If you want the characters to be relatable fine, but you have to make characters that behave how they would have. I want to know why the characters are the way they are, As the player I want the characters to feel like they belong in a history book because they should be inspired by the history books, not by modern views
@brandonbojanowski59896 жыл бұрын
@@karlmarx9267 its not modern views. Women fought in resistance movements across Europe. The tirallierurs fought across the world for France and barely got any recognition.

the tigers are unrealistic. Here they reload way too fast. IRL it takes about 13 seconds to reload. Same thing goes for turret rotation, acceleration and tank turning. I personally am very picky, and i like my "historical" games to be as realistic as possible.
