Medic mains feel a similair, but somehow different pain. Instead of regret for all the people assaults, recons and supports kill, we regret not being able to save everyone. I have saved thousands yes, but I have left hundreds of thousands to die, wether they were in my reach or not does not matter, I was at the battle, I had to save them, and I didn't... it will always hurt more than the regret for the people I killed

Minimalizing casualties is the best cause in war. War between nations in this world will always be inevitable, so if all sides actively did their best to minimalize casualties the world would be a better place, a horrible place still, but better than it would have been. I think a captured Wehrmacht soldier would definitely have questioned his ideology and his actions if he was in that situation. Speaking of which, did your grandfather tell how they reacted?

The last great Battlefield game in my opinion was Bad Company 2. 3 and 4 we're fine, I didn't care for 1 and V, and I haven't played 2042 (yet?), but V was memorable for me because of the amazing music, easily best in the franchise. I remember bottling it up the first time and hearing this on the menu screen. That wouldn't be the first time I would just let it sit on the menu and listen to the music.
