@CPL_Stark4 жыл бұрын
To explain it. You play as a German tank, and what you can see in the cut-scene with all the hanging soldiers is what the Nazis did if a soldier didn't wanted to fight for Hitler and the Nazis. And this shows that most of the German soldiers had no choice but to fight against the allies. Because the Nazis killed you and your familie if you didn't fiought for them. That's what most people don't understand. Most of the German soldiers had no other choice.
4 жыл бұрын
Sorta true. It happened, especially in areas controlled by the SS, and especially in cities being besieged like Berlin, for example. But it wasn't that common. The average German soldier fought out of many reasons, chief among them loyalty and tradition. It's pretty stupid to hang and kill everyone who doesn't want to fight, especially considering you need men to work in agricultural and industrial sectors. But it did happen.

Any army kills deserters, so it was the same in the German army. In the army you have an oath to serve your country, and if you break that oath there are consequences. It is not because of "muh nazis." National Socialist doctrine was to never surrender, much less to desert. Being a coward and deserting is worse than surrendering after giving it your all. In fact, deserting = breaking oath, losing your honor, and failing your country. It didn't matter if they know they were going to lose. Surrendering after giving it 100% was a thousand times more honorable than tapping prematurely. American soldiers most likely did not respected German deserters most likely out of principle. Surrendering when there was no other option was fine. In the SS, however, they were more likely to die than surrender which was probably better. Conclusion: it was much better to continue fighting because even after the war people would not respect a deserter. Imagine being such a coward to desert your country in wartime and then to have the audacity to think people would see that as a good thing. Germany was a very principled country even in defeat, so deserters would have even been looked down upon post war. You are brainwashed.

I played this story way after the game came out. Having seen absolutely nothing at all about it. This story has impacted me like no other video game ever has. I cried at the end. I have ancestors that fought for Italy in the war. Everyone pins every soldier who fights for the other side as evil, heartless, cruel. We never get to hear the other side of the story. It’s always taboo to portray it. Their stories never get to be heard, they are silenced. We never get to see the side that loses and what it’s like to lose. War is tragic. Every side commits horrible crimes. There are good people in every side. There are bad people in every side. There are people who choose to fight and there are people who are forced to fight against their will. Some are brainwashed, some see sense, some are traumatized beyond help, some stomach the strength to endure it’s horror. War is not black and white. It’s an ugly shade of grey. Blood splattered ugly grey. Thank you EA for having the courage to display the other side. They deserve to be heard too.

To answer some questions, this was set in Germany more specifically the Rhineland. Towards the end of the war Germany adopted a no retreat policy. Where any civilian (who was adopted into the army) or soldier was caught out of line was most Likely hung for desertion even if they weren’t. It is also important to mention that saying the war was lost was classified as defeatism and was punishable by death.

That is 80% factually wrong. There were many variants of the Sherman. The Easy Eight Sherman could penetrate the front armour from about 500-1000m with it's 76mm gun. The Sherman Firefly could penetrate all sides from 1km or more with some luck. The Russian T-34-57 could penetrate the front armour from around 500m and the T-34-85 from 1km. The power and the belief that the Tiger 1 could of kill anything and everyone is heavily overexaggerated. I mean that thing is absolutely overengineered. There were more destroyed from their own crews than from enemy tanks. Even though they are fascinating, they are definetly not the best. The Panther, Sherman and T-34 were better in my opinion :)

@@derwunderwaffe3653 True, it was way more powerful. But not powerful enough. The engines 650hp wasn't enough for it's weight. The main problem though was the transmission. There was a fault in design to speed up the production (I think). So everytime the tank hit a tree or a wall, the shock would damage or if hard enough even break the transmission. This caused the crew to abandon it or destroy it themselves since it would take too long to fix it. The weight of the tank itself also put a lot of strain on the engine. The T-34 (specifically the later model /85) was more reliable in that case. Lighter, faster, faster turret rotation, high range. Not perfect but I would say it was in the same leagues. It could probably not beat a tiger in a 1 on 1 but since the T-34's were produced in high quantities they would have the upper hand.

@@Barracuda_77 the 700hp of the maybach was enought for tiger 1 but not 2. Yes t34 outnumbered them

Fun fact is that Tigers ran out of ammo mostly before they were taken out. German engineering even dipshit leadership. All and all I do like how swedish game studio tackles war...it's not simple like most you might see. There's lot more from every side than ppl think...I think :)

the tiger is one of the most famous tanks it was very effective but it had a bad engine i think one unit ss panzer abteilung 102sa killed over 5000 enemy tanks while having 400 losses them self
