Schroder was fresh out the Hitler Youth when we see him in this, hence why's he so brainwashed and brutal. This was also very controversial when it was announced a couple years ago due to the player experiencing the side of the Germans but it ended up being the best War Story in the game. Having hate in his heart is not really how it works. The thing is that in theory you can turn anyone, particularly the impressionable, into zealots with few, if any, exceptions; Multiple unethical (by today’s standards) psychological experiments have demonstrated that. The Nazi regime had some of the most advanced propaganda and grooming techniques available at the time and they used them to devastating effect. As an example: Records were found of young children who informed on their parents and were later taken to become part of the SS in their consequent absence. Schroder is simply the result of this industrial scale indoctrination. He did exactly what was expected of him, exactly what he was trained to do, just as many other child soldiers did, and the outcomes were similarly tragic. A kid that young with Nazis breathing over his shoulder his whole life would never have had the chance to form his own views. Every word he says all but parrots the party line. Not excusing him, but I don’t think his innate qualities had much to do with the outcome, there just wasn’t much of a unique person there to begin with. In summary: Rhetoric probably didn’t fuel anything, it’s just all that was left after his training.

this is by far the most tragic story mission bf5 made, they show 4 diffrent groups of people heartmann: hes just scared, he didnt wanna be there,he reprecents the MILLIONS of german soldiers that were forced into the war, he had no choice but to try and survive Kertz: he represents all the doubt of the german reich there was, he didnt belive in the grreat plan, he knew it were BS. but he could not drag out. he hated the war and hitler and all the people saying they should fight to the death, he saw the war was over, that they lost, that they had been lied to and decived. Peter: he represents all the men who fought to get back alive, to keep his wife and children safe the best he could, he knew what were happening, but denied it because he couldn't bear it. there were no evil inside of him, he just had to keep up the morale of his men in a war they were loosing srchoder: he represent all the brainwash and false belives and ideals of the youth, all the young kids who were forced to fight and die or be blown to pieces dor a nation in flames. he were not evil per say, but a 16 year old is easily manipulated, all he saw day and night were the heroic german soldiers fighting for the fatherland, he just wanted to be something, and after being through the nazi system he were completly out of touch with the world, he belived in hitler and his plan like a catholic belives in god. he also represents the belivers people like the SS who were voulenteered and wanted the nazism and truely belived in what hitler said. and that just makes his caracter so much more tragic, all these ideals were put into a 16 year olds body and mind, truely showing how gruesome it were when they could turn a child into a monster who is a target for hatred and revenge while all he did were what he truely belived were what he should do. fight back to the last bullet and die for your country. thats not what children are supposed to do, they are supposed to play catch and find out what love and wonder is, not how to effectivly kill a tank or fire panzerfausts and machineguns to kill other people.

@ptprojektred2 жыл бұрын
Ok, looks like I gotta talk about this a little bit. I am in the german Airforce and my grandpa was in the german Navy (after ww2 before you asked) but he was a child when everything happend. The kid you see was part of the HJ, Hitler Jugend or Hitler Youth for you. It was basically like Boy scouts, with very little difference in fact. They did comunity work and group exercise and so on, but they also taught them the party line of the NSDAP and kinda indocrinated and prepared them for the german army, it was a very sick concept. As the war was ending most of them where so brainwashed that they fought harder then anyone else, even going as far as working like a terror organisation does today. Many people died because they coundn't bring themselfes to fight these kids, and as someone who is in the army, I can say for myself, I wouldn't know if I could harm a kid like that either. So, you can't really blame the kid for thinking and acting like that. Its allways easy to judge from a standpoint of today, but we allways like to forget that the Nazis didn't start with KZs and the war, it was a proces that led to this darkes period of my country. And everyone here thinks that way and is ashamed of what happend, that is also the reason why we are working so hard let people know what happend. There is this great quote by (I think George Santayana) that says: "Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it". So every german kid learns about the troughts of what happend in world war two. I think thats also the reason why so many people here still despise the Military here, all though the Bundeswehr is trying everything they can to distance them selfes from the Wehrmacht. For example we have the right to not follow any order that doesn't seem right / just or moraly reasonable. I hope this gave you a little insight into what it thid campage is like from a german perspective. It is good. Real good.

It’s truly intriguing to know how one man was able to completely turn his people into “zealots” (as Kaiser Wilhelm said himself in response to Hitler) that didn’t even flinch and surrendered only after they fought to their last breath… it truly took the Allies and the Soviets to completely capture every inch of German territory before their people surrendered. I mean I get that the Japanese were similar, but usually monarchies that paint their monarchs as deities have a strong resolve. But Hitler wasn’t a generation old leader like a monarch… he was just a broken man from WW1 that started from scratch in the NSDAP and rose up the ranks

I wrote about the mindset of civilian populations in times of war for my college thesis. I found that War, or the nature of Armed conflict is a two-sided coin. One side contains so much pain and suffering, the darkest sides of mankind. The other side however, represents the true nature of mankind. Our willingness to fight and die for a cause we personally believed was true, no matter how cruel or immoral that cause is. That is the true nature of mankind, how aggressively we defend our beliefs.

Battlefield V isnt really held in high regard by many within the community because of poor marketing decisions that came before release, as well as the faulty mechanics and bugs that plagued the multiplayer when it first came out..Also, it's said that the game doesn't follow the history completely accurately to what you may have learned... But with all that being said, the post launch developers updated the game as much as they could to put the game where it is today in terms of gameplay and entertainment, along with a HUGE expansion that covers the Pacific War. And the war stories are still compelling, and, in my opinion, as a whole it is a great game and WWII shooter, and one of the best entries in the series in recent years. Tigers were "best" tanks and shot every single "bullet" that time but were overrun by more cheap, more effective to cost tanks...like russian T-34 which were produced by masses...same goes to Sherman. 1-1 they would have no chance against tiger but there were so few of Tigers.

The Wehrmacht mostly didn’t consist of Nazis. People tend to forget about the difference to the SS! Loved the quote at the beginning though, that it didn’t matter if he didn’t do anything because he was still there

Glad that i dont need any subtitles for this :P The Tiger at the beginning and the middle of the war was basically unkillable, it has an average 1-9 kill ratio, some even way higher. Our history for Tanks in generall is awesome, but "sadly" we diddnt had anymore ressources to build anything. Ive visited some Military museums here in germany while i was in the army and also we could shoot some old WW2 weapons like the MG42. We still use this MG to this day but slightly modyfied and worse than the OG one, which is insane. The whole Tech we had at this time was revolutionary. America "stole" the most of it and our scientiest with operation paperclip. They still use alot of our original inventions to this day, like their stealth bomber. Their rockets which flew to the moon are also grounded on our V2, the first object ever hit the stratossphere. No im not a simp for these times, i just objectify technologies and inventions. Its kinda sad that the English language brings some emotional german words bad over due to its lack of general stuff. Our language is way more complicated and can offer way more feelings and such stuff. Like he said "verrecken" which translates in "die" well.. if i say this in my native language in german it sounds shit and horrible, while saying die.. sounds just meh.

Great video and discussion, anyway weather has been quite bad here in Hawaii :( but you know I'm a huge history buff lol if yall decide to react to anymore of my video suggestions! Then I have chosen a funny one and a historical one... the funny one is "the fall of 76" by internet historian... yall will definitely laugh ...like alot 😅 and the video is about a video games horrible launch.. and its very well made, the historical one would be "Alexander the great speech, the greatest speech ever, it's 7min, ish I think, anyway thanks for always giving the community what they want ! Stay safe and love you guys !

Fun fact: those gun shots at the end were from an m3 grease gun, which is an American weapon, which means that the Americans killed schroder.

The youth's were Hitler's last police. The SS kept the deserters in check, the youths kept the commanders in check. The fresh dose of patriotism and scary loyalty(Kill all deserters no matter who) made people fight till the end. I think that's what got Peter to surrender. He takes a last look at the kid and realizes how messed up the whole thing is and gives up too.

This brought tears when I played because some of my family was in the German military during all that....some captured some killed but all felt lost from the beginning to end ...it's sad that a madman put fear into his own people to force them to do his bidding...dark times for Germany

I find it as if Westerners are often angry at the brainwashed kid in Tiger Tank Mission. And as a young Chinese who was once brainwashed by nationalism, I saw in this child what I used to be. I didn't get angry. I only have sympathy and sadness in my heart.

“ I protested to him I didn’t take anything” Maybe not he said, “but you were there”. This quote has always stuck with me as a perfect way to describe all the German men who thought they were fighting for there country rather then fighting for one of the most evil powers the world has ever known.

You say "how soon can that kid fucking die" that kid was brought up with this ideology with swearing a oath to the bitter end he was sculptured into this, that kid didn't know any better that is the tradegy of War they all followed orders till the end , I don't blame the kid what so ever

Even though this comment is late schröder was the one who got shot after the screen cut to black at the end because the gun shots are not from a MP40 they are from a American automatic grease gun as müller survived and schröder was shot

so Schöder did NOt shoot Peter, the sound you hear at the end was from the Americans killing Schröder before he was able to kill Peter, otherwise Peter wouldnt've be able to tell this story right ^^

Do you think you guys could react to This is Battlefield cinematic by Player One Stories? It was made using footage from multiplayer matches in BF1/BFV. Forgot to say great reaction, this is for sure my favorite war story from BFV. BF1 also had some great ones shown from many different areas of the first world war.

"We germans have a sick history " No surprise, considering that the current Germany at the time of this comment is written, is suffering recession with many of its industries that defined what Germany is, are dying one by one.... yet your Chancellor Olaf Schulz has the time, resource, and allegience to back a Junta Government in Kiev that formalized National Socialist movement in their army as well as making a WW2 NatSoc Collaborator Stepan Bandera as their National Hero. "sick history" is an understatement of a statement LMAO
