I don't think its that, i think that when people look at the two different games you can really tell that the people behind battlefield are putting so much more effort into their game. With Cod it just seems rushed and half assed, sure it's fun but I'm sure a lot of people don't want to play a game that looks like it's rushed.

I liked the destructible environments in bf1 because of the fact that a lot of the maps contain houses and towns to destroy with tanks, explosives etc. BF4 and BF3 don't have the same environments to destroy (even though I love those games)

Battlefield is made for a more war-like feel, tiring (particullary Bf1, which aims for attritition on the player side). While not necessary more realistic or better than CoD, it is a nice touch. CoD and Battlefield are very differente FPS games, and I like them both for different reasons.

In BFV your guns start off nice and clean, as they should be if you're a good soldier and you've been looking after your weapon. But as you play they can become wet, dirty, muddy and splattered with blood. Win for BF.

No, cod puts little details in their weapons such as dirt, scratches, or even little personal touches like a shoulder strap or wrap around a stock to add more "character" to the weapon because of the lack of newer tech. Since they don't have things like an actual light source or actual reflections they have to mask the lack of graphical detail with their own personal designs, if they didn't the game would looks really boring.

Most people saying the guns in BFV look way too new and polish for a WW2 game don't understand that it's set in early of WW2 instead of the cliche of mid-end of WW2 that COD WW2 gone for. Both battle of Narvik and Rotterdam happened in 1940. And DICE will add more dark and gritty maps with their DLCs, just like BF1 with Verdun, Passchendaele and other maps.

Well that's a little strange don't you think. Set in 1940 but uses an STG-44, a rifle in service only during 1943. The FG-42, a rifle in service only during 1942. If DICE were to put in effort to make their guns polished based on the setting of the map, then throw that all out of the window with weapons ahead of its time? I think the more reasonable choice behind this imo is because DICE wanted to showcase their effects on their guns, when you get shot in BFV your blood gets splattered on the gun, when it rains you get water droplets on it, when you're in mud it gets muddy. As said by multiple DICE/EA employees they wanna go fun over realism, apparently. And some others say they want authenticity. It's the same story with cod ww2, where sledgehammer games claim they want their game to be authentic, well they somewhat did with the campaign kinda.

But then, there'll be a lot and lot of complain about they couldn't use their precious SGT-44, FG-42 or the M1 Garand in a WW2 game and have to wait until the time period come for those guns to come with DLCs. BTW, there're "New Factory" skin for guns so although it look polish and shiny, it actually not new.

Sadly, yes. But Infinity Ward was putting out auditions for an upcoming game, COD 2019 possibly/probably. Treyarch claims that BO4 "never had a campaign", but I'm not so sure that's true. However I agree that overall, the series are putting the SP mode as a really low priority.

True, but it's thanks to ungrateful and cringy gamers that complained about BO3 and Infinite Warfare. Personally, Infinite Warfare is my most favourite campaign among all CoD's. The story and characters were well designed (they really got you attached to your crew) and the gameplay was fast and fun as the usual CoD games. I liked BO3 open take on the missions as well, it gave you more freedom. But yes, it's sad that BO4 is skipping a campaign mode, they just lost one sale from me as CoD games are usually full of modes and features (campaign, multiplayer & zombies) and BO4 feels like it's cheating consumers. They should just call what it is, Black Ops Online

Battlefield V looks and sounds much better. It also plays better. My only qualm with Battlefield V is that it is very confusing for non-BF players to learn. Many of them play a few games but spend the entire time trying to figure out how to play. By the end of the fifth game, they quit and go back to CoD. *EDIT - I am not talking about modes like Conquest, Rush or Deathmatch. I'm talking about the various operations games and attrition rules that just feel confusing to so many of them.

Cod (sledgehammer) has better facial animations and motion blur (not the one you change in settings), and better choice of color in general. Also their separate studios don't share tech, and have less bugs compared to Battlefield at least and had different modes. Battlefield never was good in campaign modes (except Bad Company).

I didn't quiet understand what you need raytracing for. I mean, many games did just fine with normal ways of facing reflections and light fall. Rendering everything physicaly correct doesn't realy improves it. Especialy if you have to fight ina worn down, dusty and destroyed place where you don't have much light reflection and so it's easy to fake. I never played COD because of the graphics, it was a pure arcade FPS when it first came out and gameplay was the best aspect of it, Battlefield basically added better graphics and realism to it and I like Battlefield for that aspect as well but it was never a pure arcade FPS to me, so it really depends on what style of gameplay you prefer. I got away from COD franchise because I didn't like the futuristic thing they had going for a while, and I didn't feel like picking it up again when COD WW2 came out because I already played COD WaW so much. As far as B5 goes I want to play it because there was never such a great looking WW2 FPS before and when it comse to immersion nobody does it better than Battlefield, I played B1 during beta but decided to skip it sensing that WW2 version is coming next, B1 was still a fun game to play though, but I just have far more sentimental attachment to WW2 atmosphere, the urban warfare is going to be epic.

The reason it looks so new in BF is because you aren't running around, there haven't explosions around you, or you havent jumped into a mud puddle or anything. Your guns get dirtier the longer you're alive. At least they did in BF1. Haven't played BFV but im sure they kept it the same!

I think this shows how important lighting is when trying to render games in a more realistic way. High quality textures help, but at the end of the day it's more about whether or not a scene feels real, and that has almost everything to do with good lighting/reflections.

3:30 in BFV You can see when the weapon is fired that the slide flings back ejecting the spent round and allows you to see all the way through to the other side where the spent cartridge ejects in full detail.

Did you have Ray Tracing enabled in Battlefield V? That would solve many issues for this comparison lighting wise. Also there is a shockwave in Battlefield V, while WWII didn't have that at all.

As someone who plays R6 siege I can understand the sound design choices made in ww2, Since I crank up my headphones pretty high to help with sound location and I play in nightmode to help boost footsteps, whenever I switch to back hi-fi, firing weapons produces an uncomfortably high and impactful sound (though for whatever reason I love the bass response on them), Since call of duty has shifted to a more e-sports and less casual scene it seems in the company's best interest to remove anything that may be uncomfortable to pro players using headphones.

Rather pull out a syringe over pressing square, then accidentally Cancel the revive or pick up someones gun. You can hold D-pad Left to self heal if you're a medic, you can press D-pad Left to throw ammo, but can't hold or press D-pad up to pull out a syringe because its Bound to fortification.....ok.

there's a problem in battlefield v on the lee enfield weapon. if you look closely, the soldier's right hand never releases the bolt. he's always holding the bolt, even when he fires the weapon. that is something really impossible to do

I assume as its still Beta, but when you shoot the sniper rifle in BFV, the hand stays on the bolt after reload and doesn't go back to the trigger. I mean small thing that they hopefully fix in the full game

Also when looking at the Lee Enfield in call of duty it’s unrealistic how you load in a striped clip through the top where the scope is, the scope is centred on top of the gun not at the side so this wouldn’t really be possible. So technically battlefield got the reload better by a long shot in my opinion for realism by loading in each bullet separate. They also if I remember in cod WAW they did the reloads correct in that so why not the new ww2.

Great side by side vid here-and as someone stated before, COD has noises but BF has SOUNDS. They echo and carry across the expanse of the map, and even are effected by walls/buildings or open spaces. You can use them to gauge where an enemy is firing from and the distance, and even differentiate whether that sniper was indoors or outdoors by how much it carries/reverbs. I can also easily see DICE updating the hand shadows on guns at a later date. They're still working out many kinks with their new lighting system with some glass and puddles being way too bright or light spreading oddly in many spots in the beta. I'd imagine as they're polishing up things like this-they will have the opportunity to take a look at other bits of the lighting as well. Also, the gun you compared that hand shadow on-in BF they've actually got the bolt modeled properly where you can see through the innards of the gun to the other side. I definitely agree that BF looks and sounds better, while still having such full destruction and now repairing that destruction-it's definitely much more dynamic and immersive.

Another Forgotten Weapons nod is the operation of the Enfield. You can see the soldier keeping his thumb and forefinger on the bolt handle, thus using the middle finger on the trigger. For faster reloading.
