At first, many people didnt want to be enlisted in the nazi scheme. But it was a fascist government so they had to. (the media said voluntary but we know what it was anyways). Most of them did it willingly charmed by nationalism. At the end of the war, however, young men, kids and even girls enlisted themselves because killing 1 russian or American will get you a free bread. There were kids who took up arms and thought of killing at least 2 russians per day so that he can get a bread for his mother. Both boys and girls under 20, operated Flak guns and were sent to throw AT grenades at Russian tanks. The sad part is they weren't forced at all. The reich musn't fall. The wall must survive. What about our mothers and sisters? No surrender. But today, their military laws have changed and now german soldiers can willingly deny an order of a high-ranked officer if it seems against human dignity. Even in the midst of a fight. This is still considered a serious crime in US military. However in german military, this is something to look forward to. This oath is sworn at the building where some germans tried to assassinate Hitler in 44
