The suicide by Dee was one of the saddest and most powerful moment of the series. Her character sadly did not get that much screentime, but she certainly stood out when she was seen. Most of us long for moments of belonging and love...

So Say We All. Although I would say that we have had a few who qualify. Such as, perhaps, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln. I'm sure that there are a few others that would qualify whom I'm just not thinking of right now. The most recent presidents of the United States wouldn't qualify however because none of them would be as willing to de-escalate a situation. GWB wouldn't. DJT ( the Orange Russian owned Tool) definitely wouldn't. WJC's ego wouldn't allow for it. Ronald Reagan most assuredly wouldn't. Neither would Johnson or Nixon: both demonstrably. Jimmy Carter would probably but beyond the Iran Hostage Crisis he wasn't called upon to do so. And BHO although talking a good game wasn't in reality the politician that the media made him out to be and that most people take him to be. He was marketed as, and mostly understood to be, both a democrat and liberal and even somewhat progressive as well as transparent. If you look at his actual record , however, whether it be executive orders or policies or initiatives or accomplishments he was in truth not very transparent, was quite compliant with more conservative agendas, and not only continued but indeed expanded most Bush era policies, etc.

@@wardoc0435 I don't think you gave enough credit to Reagan, and I'm speaking about the man's character not his political affiliation. If you think about it, the Cold War with the former Soviet Union ended because of Reagan, Germany was reunited as one country, and former Soviet states were able to split away and become independent due to the groundwork that was laid after decades of oppressive control.

I thought it brilliant that Adama decided to talk to a young Petty Officer about the situation instead of other officers. A young enlisted troop would give him a better feel of what his command was thinking. Other officers would probably tell him what he wanted to hear. The slight touch of Dee on his arm really showed how deeply the men and women under his command loved him. Boomer's human side loved him just as much but she could not override her Cylon programming. She never forgave herself for she she did and it even had an affect on her resurrected versions.

It's one these scenes that define the quality of the series. It's good at creating conflicts and drama, with surprising developments and turns, yes. But it manages to resolve them with calibrated and well-thought scenes that truly create an emotional impact thanks to the quality of the writing, the talent of the actors, the direction, and the amazing soundtrack by Bear McCreary. This series is a classic. It's particularly interesting in times like ours, marked by hardships, because it is cathartic and shows how amazing characters, some being at the start apparently "normal" people, can react when living extraordinary situations, where the whole future of humanity is in their hands.

What I notice in lot of shows nowadays. The Walking Dead, the 100 and some other as well, is that everything always goes wrong. The whole season, every plan they have, it just fails completely. And then in the last 10 minutes of a season, something finally goes right. Before it repeats itself. With a show like this, with a very depressing atmosphere and a race fighting against extinction, many things go wrong and often it gets worse. But then there are these key moments, that just fill you up with hope and strength. I think Battlestar Galactica did an amazing job with things like that.

My favourite sci-fi would be SG-1, Farscape and Firefly, mainly because I enjoy sci-fi as light escapism with a bit of humour thrown in, but when it comes to total immersion and edge of the seat drama I don't think anything ever came close to the feelings I got from Battlestar Galactica. Each episode was like a mini-epic movie where I would get angry when Adama was or would feel exhilarated when Kara was, such a fantastic show.
