I believe the Centurions Helo killed were deliberately made to be easy to kill by the Cylons in order to set up the circumstances for him and Sharon to get together

The Cylons om the ship where more heavily armoured. It can be hard to tell as the differences are small but if you look closely at them you can see that they are. The Cylons haven't upgraded. This seems more to be for specialist assualt Cylons. The rest of the Cylons wont be as heavily armoured and standard bullets will still take them down
