Hello Grim. Although I never used a Behemoth myself. I faced off against a few in my days playing B-tech when the Clans were introduced and later expanded upon. Yes, the Stone Rhino, aka: the Behemoth, was a beast of a Mech, and a serious threat to most other Mech types. I found a flaw that I took ruthless advantage of against it. The so-called 'Locust Swarm'. Even the Stone Rhino falls if attacked by a dozen or more Locusts armed with ER Lrg Lasers.

Interesting tactic. I take it your opponents kept their Stone Rhinos in the open to try to fight you. That being the case they should have used the terrain to their advantage. Light to medium woods, or even water deep enough would throw a wrench into the Locust Swarm.

@@dubuyajay9964 could be a bad commander. Some Clans won't use hit and run tactics in their trials and batchalls. Snow Raven never had that issue. Part of our creed it to use everything and anything on hand to attain victory. Terrain, weather, dirty tactics, doesn't really matter. Our mechforces are so small we can't afford to scrape in the open. But I am thinking it may also have been a flat map grasslands, plains or something like that.

You have to have ERLL, if you get close as in melee close then....Stomp! Dead bug! Or "SLAP" half of the locust goes over left field!

I'll never forget the way the announcer in the mech lab in Mechwarrior 2: Ghost Bears Legacy says; "Stone....Rhino...." It sounded so awesome

I've loved this thing since Ghosts Bears Legacy(MW2 Expansion pack). On a couple of missions, I slapped a pair of Arrow IV's, with ER PPC'S on it. Talk about being able to kill a Binary from long range!

Had a classic game melee with this once. 3k points. One guy dropped a Highlander and a Phoenix hawk, Another team had a Shadowhawk, Maurauder, and locust, I dropped a Panther, Shadow hawk and phoenix hawk., fourth guy dropped one stone rhino. The guy with the SR was a rookie player, but the dice gods were with him as he marched across the table towards the objective. He double headshotted my PH and finished off a short battle with my SH with another head shot. My panther was chewed up by the other teams locust and shadowhawk and i withdrew when my ppc was trashed.Meanwhile Stone rhino cored the other guys PH and ripped the armor off the highlander bad enough that he pulled out. The Rhino was chewed up from taking out 6k points already but it still made the maurader a walking c-bill dump before it finally went down under a hail of fire from the locust and shadow Hawk.

I liked BattleTech for a while, but I didn't fall on love until I saw the cover of TRO 3055. The Stone Rhino launched a decades long obsession with BattleTech. I'm sad to see that they went with the Reseen's double barreled turret but other than that the new Catalyst Game Labs sculpt is pretty fantastic and I can't wait to get it on the tabletop.

If you are a Clanner, The the Stone Rhino is a must have. Tons of armor with a long range punch that could knock Satan on his ass. I have always kept one or two in my assault lances as a member of Clan Snow Raven. Just the appearance of one on a battlefield can rattle your opponents cage.

@@dubuyajay9964 everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have been able to use them successfully in past campaigns taking out several assault mech staying at a safe distance.

My favorite from my Ghost Bear's Legacy days, I swapped the jump jets for extra heat sinks and put ER PPC's in each arm and the torso, with a small laser in the torso. Alpha-strikes were devastating. 2 salvos would remove the legs from most smaller mechs, but I always had trouble with Marauders with jump-capability.

I had a ral partha mini and it looked cool but was delicate and fell to bits and never had the contact points to get it to stick together well....I use it as wreckage now :-) the catalyst version looks good if you can find one in Stock.

The mod that I run in HBS BattleTech game has the Matar in it. Once you upgrade it with lostech and clan tech it becomes devastatingly brutal. Still slow though.

When you mentioned the Stone Rhino 5, I was expecting a pic of the Macross Monster. The SR 5 is the "totally-not-a-Monster" loadout.

I still remember the 3055 source book description of the clan Behemoth mech. It has changed a little over the years, but a good looking mech all the same.

My mercenary unit captured one of these things during a campaign I played back in the late 90s, just one. I toyed with different load outs on it but eventually it got blown to hell and I was unable to fix it forcing me to put its remains into storage. Thankfully around that time (in the rpg lore we were using) my unit was able to makes peace with clan Ghost Bear and with that came easy access to their manufacturing technologies. Which led to me designing and producing several mechs, I had a bit of a failed prototype myself with a modified Kodiak that got the nick name Heat Bastard because in a single round it could generate enough heat to overload even triple heat Sinks and cause critical mech system failure, three were made. Then years later it was revisited and became one of the three strongest mechs I ever designed, possibly the strongest, the Arctodus, which spoiler can vaporize half of a heavy mech in a single round without an ounce of heat build up. Last I played ten had been produced, my unit fielded three and we've supplied Ghost Bear with five (mostly made from Kodiaks that were either supplied to us or by ones we salvaged yes the three Heat Bastards were also converted as they were themselves Kodiaks) only one is which I know the location of, one was destroyed when three lances that fielded seven assaults six heavies and two mediums ganged up on it ending in it going up like a Roman candle with nothing but slag left behind, and the other was still sitting in a hangar waiting for me to decide what to do with it.

I hope, if the Mechwarrior 5 team EVER bring in the whole Clan Invasion as a Campaign, that they also will include the Stone Rhino. Imaging him beneth a Marauter 2 and two normal Marauders walking over the Battlefield side by side... *shiver* :D Edit: Okay, this is the first Time I hear about this "Omega Mech". Hope you will pur some more light on it in a future Video. :-)

It is I plan to field a modified version made out of ceramic and endosteal for weight savings and with 6 PPCs, 4 Heavy PPCs, and 2 Gauss cannons... It can two alpha strike any mech but will over heat and need a reset after each salvo.... so It's best to have two of these guys and two atlas/marauder 2s for protection.

A mech that looks scary, and cool as hell...But is essentially useless, when compared to Lostech Assaults, and most front-line Clan Assault Omnimechs. Utterly defenseless against indirect fire, and SUPER EASY to flank by every light and medium mech in existence, with the Urbanmech being the ONLY exception. 🤷‍♂️

Some things to remember: this a Clan 2nd line mech, built for defensive duty. In c-bills, it’s ‘cheap’ compared to a Dire Wolf or Warhawk, literally 1/3rd the cost. It’s not meant to compete with them, it’s meant to be cost-effective firepower. As a garrison mech, it will have lights, mediums, and elementals screening for it, so swarming it will be problematic. Since it has a standard engine, unlike the extra lights in frontline Clan mechs, it is also more durable in practice. Left and right torso crits and destruction will not damage the engine, so the Stone Rhino will be mobile after similar damage stops a Dire Wolf or Warhawk. It’s basically the Clan version of a zombiemech.

I'm a new to Battletech and my friend bought me the Clan Heavy Star force pack as a gift, it came with a Stone rino ad I love the mini. The alpha-strike card is kinda mediocre for offense in terms of clan damage, but it had so much health to work with. I might be able to boost its damage on the master unit list builder. Its quickly becoming favorite just for how it looks. It reminds me of a massive cargo plane.
