I prefer Longbows that replace the LRMs with Arrow IV launchers to provide artillery support while I user Archers for on map LRM support. But that just me, I also use Rifleman for AA and direct firesupport while using Warhammers as main battle mechs. But I've been running this themed force for a long time.

"... the lack of CASE protection..." blah blah blah, simply solve this problem by launching all the missiles you have before anyone goes anywhere near you. If you ahd ammo taht could explode that didn't already explode against enemy armor, you are dishonoring the missiles.

These were the fire support for my each mech has a particular job company....very useful mech when paired with well equipped lights and mediums :-)

Started popping up on my searches for battletech lore I enjoyed the video. Also to counter the choice of cat over longbow, I love both. However as an assault I normally pair it with assault direct fire support lances. It stands back in the lance and helps out, the cat is a great heavy and I use it for indirect fire support and both I can easily reposition to cover wider areas of fire or even swap their kits for other things. Long bow it also fun for arrows as a mobile arty support and light wieght direct fire support

13c that wouldn't be medium missile launchers, but Multi-missile launchers, as in it can switch between short range missiles and long range missiles.

I like the Longbow mech except the for the oversized torsos that present a really juicy target. In the 31st century that's not a good thing on the battlefield. One thing I noticed is that lower portion, the waist and legs appear to resemble the Warhammer, and the Rifleman lower extremities. If i were riding a longbow I would do like those fighters of old did, stay as far back as possible and fire volley after volley until i ran out of ammo or enemies.

I think Arrow IV version is the ideal indirect fire support mech. Unlike most IS versions, it has 2 of them and still rocking standard engine to keep costs down. Speed and armor doesnt matter much to such a mech anyways.

Scariest variant is definitely the six MML-9 armed variant. Just make sure to mix your ammo loadout. Also, it's assault. That darned u got uppity.

i love LGB-8V just remove the large lazer add ammo and your good to go 2 Medium Pulse Lasers 2 Arrow IV launchers 15 -20 shots a launcher

Love the video, just found it. I've always found the lore popularity of the Longbow to be a bit odd. If you are not going to be carrying both more missiles, and more launchers than an Archer, or a Catapult, then why use something that weighs so much in the role of a missile boat? I've got a Rifleman 2-C in Mechwarrior online that carries more than that 85 ton beast, and the venerable Pancake Head isn't even the best in it's weight class at strapping missiles to itself, that's just the missile boat I opted to purchase for love of the derpy design.

It's a shame that they couldn't keep the lore of all those 1st pass Macross/R0b0T3ch unseen mechs. The Longbow, Warhammer and Rifleman make a lot more sense with the idea that all of them share a majority of their parts. Maybe make it a mechanic where the Cbill cost for maintenance is lowered inherently in the fleet if your running the trio as part of a force.

If I recall, the longbow debuted earlier than other missile-boat mechs. I have to check, but I think it's pretty cheap too for your campaign needs ; )

the best way to use the Long bow mech is as a mobile artillery, not a battlemech. it should be alone in the back, far far away from the battle
