I was gonna say something about how rad this mech looks, but now all I can think about is that this might be the one case where storing ammo in the legs (as is often the meta in the Mechwarrior game franchise) makes legitimate in-universe sense.

The Tenshi is an excellent melding of Blakist and Kuritan Omnimech experience. People often forget the DC has over 100 years of effective experience with Clan tech and Omnimech construction, especially when you look at designs like the Avatar, the Sunder, and the Black Hawk KU. The Combine rebuilt Luthien Armor Works' main facilities on Luthien by the Dar Age, including their Omnimech construction wing. The Tenshi would be an excellent partner with such staples as the Atlas, the Naginata, the Kuritan Project Phoenix Battlemaster, and the Sunder. With the use of ECM/ECCM rules, even Angel ECM equipped units can keep the C3 links going, allowing the Dragon to overcome ita foes. An excellent vid as always, @BigRed40K.

A quick critique on Omnimechs (and why they aren't for mercs). What makes an Omnimech special is the ability to switch loadouts between engagements. This means as long as you have omnipods you can rapidly replace damaged weapon and change role for the mech as desired. The downside? Omnimech parts are more expensive than their standard counterparts. To use the advantages of a Omnimech, you need to carry multiple loadouts worth of extra weapons and other parts, which can easily double the cost of the omnimech. You could of had 2 standard mechs in place of an Omnimech of the same tonnage and its train of parts. Also if you have a mixed unit of omni and standard mechs you effectively have 2 different logistics trains feeding parts to repair your units. Houses can afford this. Clans can afford this. Mercs? You'd need a huge unit of mercs to even think about supporting an omnimech, and it would probably be an entire lance of similar omni-mechs so you can trade parts between them.
@TheArchaos2 жыл бұрын
That's the eternal question, do you want more of the lesser or do you want few of the major?
@observationsfromthebunker96392 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, the true omnimech utility is out of reach except for the A-list mercenary regiments. It's likely that omnimechs in most merc units (especially the usual company-size unit living on a bootlace budget) will be of one specific loadout, generally the pilot's preferred type which is also considered useful in the unit's general role. Gotta make budget every month....
@iampoch012 жыл бұрын
Mercs would likely pick a weapons loadout and stick to that, effectively treating it as a standard battlemech. The Omni feature will be treated as an add on. It's nice to have though won't be used often, or if at all. We do that in some consumer products, too.
@salyerbrandon2 жыл бұрын
@@iampoch01 exactly. Mercs don’t use it for its ability to change roles. They use it for the ability to ratchet off their broken AC/20 and slapping a pre-paid replacement on. It’s useful to the point that I do not use any mechs that aren’t Omni. In Mechwarrior 5 when you aren’t in an industrial hub everything cost more time and c bills, with some places 200% more of each. Losing a component in the middle of a multi mission contract will down a standard mech, but with the Omni you can slap your preferred weapon on and get back into the fight. Which is far preferable to climbing out of your angel of death and climbing into that 20 ton MG armed scout that’s sat in the back of the hanger every since you had to fire Goblin for lack of hygiene.
@RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvus2 жыл бұрын
Omni are good logistics machines and small mercs really don’t have the same needs logistically that big militates do so yea you’re right my only addendum is some merc companies are basically smaller house powers in their own right and really get helped out with that Omni logistic support. Plus quick swap outs are always welcomed in a battle regardless of unit size.

Leave it to the Dracs to decide to play with fire and resurrect the ghost of some of the Wobbies monsters. Out here in the periphery we tend to say that anyone who is a power mad violent warlord with expansionist tendencies is “Pulling a House Lord”. And to a certain degree all the House Lords do it but by the Lord and the Lady the Kurita’s try to take that all the way to eleven and beyond. Okay to get more serious, yes this thing is a fucking monster, a perfectly tuned and well designed killing machine that sends a shiver down my Mechwarrior spine at the thought of having to fight it. Honestly it’s so nasty it makes me wonder how much inspiration that the Dracs took from the Wobbies. I’m praying really hard that the Coordinator and her puppet master arnt stupid enough to think they can pull a Marik, the Word isn’t a organization that can be controlled or even used. But that’s just me being paranoid. Anyway, I am willing to say that it’s hardly a surprise they developed a monster like this. After all I’d certainly be looking for a big nasty gun if I had to live with the Clan Occupation Zones on my border. And I do take some solace in this devil in angels armor bring between my own homeland and the fucking clans. If it kills clanners well then I’ll give it a favorable mention. Also oh gods, I don’t even want to think about the cost of a machine like this and how much it costs to keep it in the field. That would bankrupt most merc units.

As cool as this looks definitely prefer the unofficial MW4 mektek "Tenchi" (Its torso is an attack helicopter with upside down wings with guns on top, how could you beat that?)
@ChaosTicket2 жыл бұрын
The Tenshi seems underwhelming at first. 1 Gauss Rifle and 5 Light PPCs is light armament for a 95tonner. Mounting its weapons in the arm is risky. I had to look up where all its missing tonnage was before I found them. Its in the gadgets the Tenshi carries. It carries a Targeting Computer with takes up almost 10% of its total weight. It carries a Supercharger, but on a very slow Assault Mech with only 54kph speed its a small improvement. A Guardian ECM is practical if unimpressive compared to an Angel ECM. Its a step up compared to something like the Gotterdammerung, but overall isnt too much. Its a tough frontliner, but limited. In Particular it reminds me of a complicated Awesome, Banshee, or Nightstar.
@havoc37422 жыл бұрын
I think you should've given an Honourable Mention, to the original Tenchi, the 65-ton Attack Chopper on legs that was made, and named, in honour of a deceased programmer who worked on Mechwarrior 4's MekTek Pack for Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries, If for no other reason, than to honour the fallen.

Honestly, I didn't even know it existed. Also, Tenshi means Angel. Tenchi means Imperial Sky, or Heavens.

as awesome as the MEch looks, but Weapons only mounted at the arms is a severe shortcoming in prolonged fights as arms have the tendency to get blown off

The Annihilator's video, at current production rate, looks like it will be probably in late October. I do have to forewarn you though, I am unlikely to have an opinion on this mech which lines up with your level of enthusiasm. It will be gone over as any other machine, but I would not expect one which is draped in flattery, at least for most of its variants.

Hello Red. I may have started out as a Davion-ist, and later Mercenary, but I like well-made Mechs. Having said that, I find myself liking this Kuritan Mech design. Much to my chagrin. If this is the face of 'modern' Kurita, I may have to just put aside my decades long dislike for them.

I'm just going to say it, I hated the way that design of arms looks on the angry lunch box that is the puma and I hate how it looks here even more because it just looks wrong to me. Probably because I've seen enough things that are built like those arms have the end most pieces snap off or the middle piece break in half enough times that it just doesn't look trustworthy to me Edit: love everything else about this mech though. The Idea of a great house using tech from the blakies and exploiting the terror that inspires is a very.... human thing to do with a weapon of war. I just REALLY don't like the arms because I like things that look like the dragon and bird legs on mechs. Edit 2: 21:35 blink twice if the commissar has his pistol on the back of your head, Red
