Even if I don't think the crit necessarily sealed Shady's win, he did play this very well; it's a very clear improvement over the first couple weeks were we could see he was still getting used to draft again. The only thing I think he didn't realize was that Whimsicott gets Infiltrator, which ignores screens (Moonblast on Magmortar) as well as Substitute (an out to Azelf).

Major Throw #1: not clicking pain split. Throw #2: not expecting earthquake, and focusing on knock off. If you made a couple better plays you would've won. I notice so many people focus too much on things like knock offs, hazards, etc. and not on the hard hitting, high power moves. My general rule of importance for selecting a move / play when Pokémon batting is: statuses & switches > high power moves > hazards & knock off.
