Especially him folding to a bluff. It is too easy for new players to get into the mindset of you can't let other players get one over on you, instead of that was a spot where they should be bluffing and their bluff should be getting through because on average that is a losing call.

Choosing a7s to check on the flop is interesting because it blocks the straight draws that dwan might bet, meaning his betting range on the flop is a little value heavy. It also can pick up a lot of equity on the turn if a 9 or a 5 comes down, more equity than say, ajs, which can only pick up a gut shots worth of equity.

Interesting stuff. 2nd hand when you checked on the flop, you did so not only against Dwan, but also allowing Menon to stay in the hand. Had Dwan checked, there would have been three to the turn. So in a way, your check here also puts Dwan in the position of almost having to bet something. It's either a weak attempt to steal a pot, a way to build the pot, or a way to thin the field. In this case, it thins the field. Your check obviously disguises your 4 to the nut flush situation, and your call for what is a pretty small bet certainly says "drawing hand". I think it also adds come confusing on the turn, as your bigger bet against the 4 of hearts suggests you either just hit the straight or hit the set with that card. You put Dwan into a very un-interesting place with second pair . There is little or no way he can call you, you can run the math 100 ways but in the end, it's much more likely that you have either hit the K, a straight, or a set, and little or nothing he can get from here will get him up to or past that. The cards that would get him higher than what the board implies are basically the other two 8s, and that is about it. So he has to surrender, no choice. A super use of checking to disguise a good hand.

People are very easy to manipulate when they rely on solvers and range to dictate, it adds a level of predictability to their play style. People are realising, you don't need to bet every flop where you have the advantage esp vs an aggro player like Dwan who plays ranges more than odds. Let them trap themselves and watch them go red or white on the turn/river as they realise they have it all wrong. DN has really highlighted this after being a little predictable in the previous decade. The time DN spent on solvers and generally grinding out the bugs is evident. One of the hardest working players. GG

@@Skankhunt420. Why wouldn't you be able to with one or two gappers as well? Is it because of the bigger kicker?
@Skankhunt420.2 жыл бұрын
@@diamanteduul8084 previous comment I meant on the flop. 85 diamonds has less chance to make a straight and less equity when certain mid to high cards come. With 85 you specifically need 76 to come on the flop to have an open ended straight draw. With 87 you can have 6 5, 10 9, 9 6. With mid card flops you also block his connected hands like 9 8, 8 7, 7 6. Daniel won't be raising a hand like 8 5 or even 65, 75 in early position. So the 5 is worth less than a 7 for blocking. And because of this you have way more playability with most board textures and more equity
