It's really amazing how much they've managed to victimize Ryan: - Her original parents died somehow - She was homeless as a child - She was kidnapped as a child - She was adopted and her adoptive mother was murdered by Alice's gang - She's went to prison for a crime she didn't commit - She's still homeless as an adult, living out of her van. - Nobody wants to hire her because she's an ex-con. - She was mugged and Ruby Rose had to save her. - She's black and apparently been target of racism. - She's a lesbian (I don't know if they've specifically said she's been discriminated against for that, but it's Batwoman so we know she has been) She's basically the ultimate victim.

Miracle blood, problem solved. Just awful writing on this show.

And now we know why she's being kept as her own "hero", because any competent team or actual real hero would toss her away for being a liability and harvest the suit from her. I was actually just thinking of something along those lines, as a "Bad character/ Good character" contrast. See, I'm currently reading the most recent novel in the 'Mercy Thompson' book series, the title character of which is imo the textbook definition of the RIGHT way to make a strong female protagonist. At the point I'm at in the book, Mercy has recently been bitten by some kind of evil creature that can cause those it bites to out of nowhere go nuts and become homicidal and/ or suicidal. Unlike Ryan in this dungheap of a show hiding her kryptonite poisoning from everyone for some reason, Mercy immediately tells her husband and some trusted friends about what happened so they can help her get through it. Like I said, a perfect "Bad character vs. Good character" contrast.

That kind of thing can only be done if it would make sense for the character. In Breaking Bad(MINOR SPOILERS), there's a situation where Walt can easily just stop cooking meth and go back to work with his old friend Elliot so he can pay for his cancer treatment, but he turns it down because (1) he resents Elliot for getting rich off his research after he sold off his own share of the company, and (2) he enjoys cooking meth too much, because using his chemistry skills in such a risky way gives him a thrill like no other. He turns down an easy solution because of his own underlying greed and ego. What I'm getting at is, it makes sense for him to do it. Here, Ryan just decides not to tell anyone about her terminal illness for no reason whatsoever. She basically has no character except for "sassy black woman", so the writers have no way to explain her keeping this secret without just having her be dumb. The only way they could possibly rationalize that now is her being suicidal, and that would be really fucking stupid for its own host of reasons(total lack of setup, far easier ways to die, etc.).

@@patrickmcguire7896 You could almost make a drinking game every time they retcon a previous established history. You could tell these writers didn’t care about making a good or logically story. The little brother couldn’t have made them. Batwoman doesn’t even check what the police knew about the abduction.
@Dagenspear3 жыл бұрын
Maybe that was before? I'm not sure about the timeline of events. My thing was more that Beth's loss was involved in a bus thing with Batman and Joker, something I assume would be public and get more press, than the kidnapping of an orphan girl. This doesn't mean that people don't not look for people based on race or whatever, maybe they do (I think these are things I've only seen TV talk about), but in this particularly situation, can it really be said for certain it was because of race, and not publicity?

O no the show has dameged my brain so much i never realised the inconsistancy.
@tonycleek49813 жыл бұрын
@@Dagenspear That is the real problem with the show is the inconsistency of the timeline. I don’t have a problem if Beth was presumed missing for a time but in the first season, they made it sound like Jacob moved on pretty quick. Another thing that was never addressed when in the timeline did Jacob meet Mary’s mom? Since she was the one that got the fake bones, does that mean Jacob was cheating on his wife? These writers just want to play the black woman victim card as much as they can milk it. We don’t know how many children are missing, what is the status of the investigation, what leads that were given to the police, maybe nobody is talking to the police. There are so many reasons why this boy’s case would be at stand still but the writers just wanted race to be the reason so they don’t even tried.

That makes them complicit to all the years kids were being abducted there after them. But yeah the writers trying to imply all the comic book writers within that universe as well as all law enforcement (this includes Commissioner Gordon), Batman, Robin, Lucius Fox, Alfrred Pennyworth, and whoever else that was fighting crime in Gothan "didnt care about Black people" effectively making them all racists, even if some of those people working law enforcment or fighitng crime were Black themselves. lmao thats fucking terrible writing.

The problem with the writers is that they don't know how to write a live action superhero show, which is basically a crime investigation series like NCIS, CSI and Law & Order just super powers more masks and tights.
@budgiecat90393 жыл бұрын
The writers arent comic fans they're woke hypocritical virtue signalers who hijacked comic material to push their agendas
@Cipherman3603 жыл бұрын
Exactly! The format is simple. You start with a crime shrouded in mystery. Then show a light-hearted opening for the hero, that suddenly gets interrupted. Then solving the mystery begins as the villain continues to take steps towards his or her big plan, the hero gains on them. And then one final surprise before they wrap it up nicely or leave a cliffhanger for a nice 2 parter. Throw in some action and danger balanced with levity and thats it. Not hard at all but they just can't get it right on this show.

It would made more sense for Ryan or Batwoman take the little brother home and have a parent to say that their son was taking on the way home from school. Then Ryan and Mary could have driven by comic book shop to trigger the flashback. Now, I don’t how to make it where Ryan would make the connection to her past and the boy being taken. It is just a big plot hole.
@thoriasunlimited40533 жыл бұрын
The writers apparently got "no one is looking for him" and "no one has found him yet" a little mixed up.
@tonycleek49813 жыл бұрын
@@thoriasunlimited4053 I am not sure if the writers got the wording mixed up or not just because how Batwoman told Jacob at the end that she look for him. If she had no one has found him yet, it would imply that someone does care and that the investigation had stalled due to lack of leads. For example, you had lost your keys in their house and you are sitting on the couch watching tv, I come in the room and say “you aren’t even looking for the keys”. But if you were actively looking for your keys, then I would say, “I guess you haven’t found your keys yet”. “No one is looking for him” fits the racist narrative that the system doesn’t care for another black boy.

Aside from being held in the attic for months, the writers could have mentioned other tortures the lady did to Ryan. Ryan had her comics to read, a bed w/ fresh sheets, jelly beans, room service, newspaper delivered, chair, and cobwebs. Were these any different from the accommodations at the foster home? I guess Alice is bi?? She felt something down there remembering Ocean. Will the show go to a place they are not use to and have male/female sex? Young Ryan could have "improved the flavor" of the jelly beans the lady took every day. By the time she finished the jar, her teeth would be brown.

0:18-0:33 True that, and props for calling Kate a tumor, she definitely was. 1:18-1:34 Well, that and they don't want to be accused of Bury Your Gays, lest the Twitter mob comes for them. 3:20-3:45 Once again, because the plot says so. 4:35-4:56 Not just that, why was the Batsuit on the plane if Kate wasn't? Seriously, they are desperately trying to convince us that Kate is still alive, but this show has lied about other things, so I wouldn't take it at its word. 8:24-8:46 Yes, because POCs *never* willingly join gangs, it's always white people's fault. Always. 9:32-9:47 Because she's a woman, that's all you need to know. 9:48-10:11 RIIIGGGHHHT! If she was puling stuff like this out in the open, Batman would've busted her long ago. Bad enough saying all cops are racist, but implying that Batman is also racist? If that was true he wouldn't have let Lucius Fox in on his secrets! Come on, writers! 10:47-11:08 So now they're saying it outright! They really *are* trying to destroy superhero comics, just shows they don't care about the source material. Disgusting. >:( 12:12-13:04 Yes, she just gives up because they're not looking specifically for her, she just assumes they're racist and throws in the towel. Pathetic. 13:05-13:26 Yep, just further proves that Ryan will always be in Kate's shadow. What racists the writers are. 13:46-14:03 LOL! 15:13-15:35 No kidding, who does Angelique think she is, only Link can kill a Demigorgon with a slingshot, and she's no Link, not by a longshot. 15:36-15:53 Precisely! A child's life is more important than Ryan's hurt feelings, once again feelings take precedence. Pitiful. 15:55-16:30 More proof that the show is all about Kate, Ryan is just a stand-in. And more proof that the writers are racist. 17:28-17:56 LOL! What a maroon. Guess some "family friends" stayed behind in case anyone asked about Kevin. Man, Ryan's as bad as Kate when it comes to traps. 19:49-20:00 Must've been made by the trumpet company, that's the only way it could be so effective. 20:01-20:11 Uh huh, of course, shows how much logic is valued in this show. 20:12-21:02 Yes, let's not tell the police what the Crazy Candy Lady was doing, let's just be happy we're free. Meanwhile, dozens of more children disappear over the next fifteen years because they did nothing to stop her. Once again, good people do nothing, and evil triumphs. 22:14-22:35 Exactly, pointing out a woman's incompetence or even inaction on an important issue is sexist. 23:04-23:28 Yes, because women can never lie, and are not to be questioned on anything. Agenda overrides common sense. 31:56-32:15 I feel you, I really do. But Episode 4 lost 200,000 viewers from Episode 3, and if they keep bleeding viewers like this then they won't be able to afford continuing the show. As you said, they can only take it in the wallet for so long.
