Beer League Bum hockey reviews

As everyone and their dog releases their Ag5nt video, I thought I would take a few jabs (all for fun) and give some actual information on how the stick performs, who it would suit and what you should look for in its characteristics if its something you should spend over 400$ on. Durability will be touched on again soon. In the end, I hope I can help more than "its a good stick"

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I try and make these fun, informative and not boring, but i understand not everyone sits through a 20 min youtube from some random beer leaguer. I hope i addressed the aspects of this stick well enough to help you make a decision. In the end, its alot of $$ and I always say its best to gather all information and make the best decision for your personal situation. If I didnt answer it in the video ill respond to comments.

Great Review man, your absolutely right, you can’t complain about price when the performance is there. Hands down best stick out right now, i have 3 of these and probably won’t be using another stick for a very long time. Straight masterpiece. I will say though i am glad i work at a hockey store and get these 40% off. Regardless though i’d still be buying this stick p.s. - i 100% agree with you that this should have been released as the Hyperlite. I’ve already seen the new Hyperlite 2.0 stick coming out around April from our Bauer rep already and it’s still not going to be as lite and perfect as the Agent. The Hyperlite 2 will use the blade from the Sync (ACL 2.0) for better feel and be brought down to only 360 grams still 30 off the Agent and only 5g’s less than the current Sync. The agent will stand King for some time. I did have our Bauer rep leak some info to us though that an “Agent Sync” will be coming out this year as well so watch out for that towards the end of 2023

Our team against another team yesterday (we won 12 - 3), and I managed to try a CCM FT5P of same specs as mine, however the handle of the stick was taped very rudimentary as opposed to the buttendz grip I'm using; the feel between the two sticks was very different as the buttendz grip stick felt significantly dampened. It's great to see Bauer finally relasing some new (and durable) technology that actually appeals to the market.

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews yeah, as I mentioned it's pretty obvious; however, I was surprised at just how much difference it made. I'm curious, perhaps I misunderstand how the flex rating works too ... I thought that flex would be independant of the construction method - ie: an 85 flex stick will be an 85. It might be lighter if it's boron/carbon, heavier if it's timber .. but the flex itself is a standard that gets measured. In the "olde dayes" timber sticks were measured once made, then the flex number was put on them. A 77 should be a 77, unless I don't understand it? Modern construction of the layups of the fibers means you can change where it flexes, but the absolute number should result in the same flex amount.
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews 2 жыл бұрын
You would think so but no on this stick This stick is designed to be much stiffer and by doing so will recoils harder at lower flexes. You hear the term “plays like a 70 flex” or whatever in some forums this that example the 77 plays like a 90
@aborum75
@aborum75 2 жыл бұрын
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews what's the flex rating worth if not conforming to a universally accepted standard? It's impossible to gauge what flex you're going for if it's like "oh, this is the AG5NT v3.0 so it's [your avg. flex rating minus 17 for boron but plus 8 for not being ultra sigmatex]". Hey man, really appreciate your videos. They have been extremely helpful in researching sticks! Quick question: I'm potentially getting an Agent and am switching from a Nexus E5, 65 flex to this stick (cut down so maybe closer to 67-70). I find my shot with the E5 is a bit inconsistent and the shot feels sometimes feels a tad whippy (though feels pretty close to the right flex). Given the Agent is more stiff feeling, would it be a good idea to stick to 65 flex, or drop down to 55? I'm a 5'7 guy who weighs 140 pounds. Cheers and thanks!

Hey dude’! Oh man you just reminded me to check out your latest vids. Been so busy editing and usually when I jump on I’m like oh perfect to check these out. Been crazy. Yeah man the price point is silliness so most won’t use it and yeah if it was the best stick ever I would definitely say it. Not there yet. Oh man least fav hmmm tough call I mean I not really anyone is doing reviews properly that’s an “large” channel. They are always off, and I don’t wanna cause to much controversy lol but we should totally chat dms just so it’s not a big thing haha

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews No worries about watching my vids! The latest ones are stuff you likely already know. Speaking of DMs, is there a way to exchange contact info without doing it publicly? Hey ! I'm on the fence to treat myself, i've narrowed down to 3 sticks, considering you reviewed them all, would you be able to give me your top choice ? Also have one of your sticks broke yet ? ( trigger 7 (not the pro), agent, novium pro)
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Why non pro trigger if looking at the other top ends? Also would be good to know shooting style since two are low kick and one mid. I just reviewed the novium and unless you bomb slappers 90% of the time I would avoid. The agent is slightly a better stick IMO on the trigger pro but the trigger is more durable. If you want the non pro trigger you will have a very solid more durable stick. Unless you need huge weight reduction ( say me I have rheumatoid arthritis in my wrists ) then go agent but if you don’t the trigger 7 pro is best all round stick there. None of those sticks broke for me during testing which was surprising. But they are all top sticks so it’s just a risk in end that’s what that warranty is for!

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks for the quick reply ! Happy holiday to you :) to answer your question, i prefer the graphic on the trigger 7 vs 7pro and the extra 100$ reduction ( for a 20gram increase in weight) seems like the better deal for the trigger serie. Also, if i go trigger 7, i could also pick the alpha lx pro on the discount rack for about same price as 1 agent. I'm much more of a playmaker than a shooter, but i barely ever take slapshot - so all quick wristshot. ( my job offer me 500$ for sport equipment, so its a free stick for me :) )

It's somewhat surprising that sticks haven't been using boron. Trek bicycles were using it in bottom brackets in the early 2000's,it's not new tech. That hockey stick blades are still essentially surfboards,with a core that breaks down quickly is ... dissapointing! Bring on the boron!

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Yeah, the 2006 Madone 5.9 SSLx had boron fiber in the bottom bracket. They only used it, AFAIK, for that one model. Probably too expensive. But if you look at how a hockey blade is put together, you can't help but think there's got to be a better way. Foam sandwich construction? It's just going to break down over time as the foam crumbles.

Bruh who the hell can afford 450 bucks. I love trying high end sticks and feeling the different sticks but I can’t see myself buying it until it’s 250 on sideline swap. Especially when there’s after Market sticks for 150-180 that practically do the same thing. It’s sad these cool and very interesting sticks come with such a price tag. Especially when you won’t know if you like it or not until you try it out. Seems very cool. I just can’t sacrifice the 450 bucks to potentially not like it.
